Stefanie's

You are probably right about the frozen track, the temperature is down there.

Thursday, January 22nd

  • 30min isometrics

  • calf raises

  • 6 x 5 flights of stairs up (in 2s) > my shin feels much better after doing these, rather than just sitting around. (not that I am explaining myself or anything… )

  • 2 hours ping pong. I beat Serbia and Iran
Iran is teaching me Italian. I’m not sure if that is a very good idea… he only speaks it for 1 year
I’m teaching English to Iran. He got a better deal, I think …

Friday, January 23rd

Painting
Studying
Ping Pong
Eating
Studying

(I’m actually funded to do the above… isn’t that nice.)

Too tired to do anything else, I call it OFF.
I am just a tad sore from yesterday’s stair bounding.
And I feel sleepy and weak. Which is why I ate a three course meal just now :D.

My shin was grouchy all day, but got better after ping pong. Sitting (painting and studying) makes it worse. Maybe I should just play ping pong all day long…

I beat Iran and Brazil today

I should go professional.

And reading green text on the computer screen makes me nauceous…

I can’t wait till Athens trip …

Hopefully I feel better soon.

Saturday, January 24th

60min isometrics

Shin feels fine by now.

Also, I was told to stick to a plan training wise ( …), and will be following it starting Monday.

Sunday, January 25th

30min isometrics

My hamstrings are sore from glute-hams.

Ping Pong. Tied with France.
Then we were asked to make less noise, because they were studying in the next room. How on earth can one make less noise playing ping pong…

Nice day…

Woke up with 20min isometrics (for fun ).

Evening Training:

  • isometrics (not for fun)
  • 1 x 20m (this should be blocks, but there was noone to time me :frowning: so I did a 3pt stance), @3.31"
  • 2 x flying 20m (w/10m run up) @2.67, 2.52"

Lonngggg break (the “shoot-me-now” kind of break).

  • more isos during break

  • 1 x 20m (again 3pt stance), @3.28"

  • 2 x flying 20m (w/10m run up) @2.86,2.52"

God knows how accurate these times are. I should find a consistent timer, really.
I’ll ask one of my stalkers… :stuck_out_tongue:

  • 15min juggling w/tennis balls …

“Nice” 4 hour seminar today by John Forester…
Although his theme was very (very very )boring, I did my best to dig out the interesting parts…
He couldn’t really answer my questions…

Lesson of the day: Write a doctorate thesis with style, and not as a boring mundane typical-scientific study.
I am all for it…

Pleasantly surprizing: my residence building is full of niceness…!! People knocking on my door offering treats, tennis balls (!), “learn-Italian-CDs” (same guy is trying to educate me on all the historical background of Iran with ancient Persia documentaries - that are in fact very interesting - ), other people offering Italian lessons (I am still not in the mood to “officially” start learning a language, but eventually I will have to … I actually found out today that in May we have a 5 day seminar in French, translated to us in Italian… man oh man…)

Ahhh… busy day.

Tuesday, January 27th

  • 15min juggling… (soon I will start practicing 4 balls… It’s not my fault I was given tennis balls as a gift from my neighbor… they are addicting to me… )
(yes, I do have time to juggle during a busy day… )

Training:

I will not type everything again, as today was like yesterday (and tomorrow):
(isos, sprint, isos, sprint, go home)
Times:

  • 3.28, 2.59, 2.65
  • 3.22, 2.62, 2.60

Sorry if this gets boring … I will have things to narrate after indoor nationals… :o

side note: On the track, a bunch of 8 year olds gathered around me (they were “brave” enough, because I was talking with their coach), and they started asking me questions in italian… they wanted to know all of my biographical details, because they thought it was interesting I talked english with their coach… I understood 75% of their italian questions, yay :stuck_out_tongue:
This also took away my “fear” for Italian bambini … They are just like other kids in the world !!!

On another note, another little italian bambino at one point started kicking the shoe that I had put down as a mark for my sprints  I didn’t know anything appropriate to say in italian, so I gave him the dirtiest “Annoyed-stef-at-bambino-look”, he went like this: “”, and ran away.

:stuck_out_tongue:

p.s.1: I am hungry alllllllllllllll the time…

p.s.2: Trying to study and concentrate after training is deathly on the brain… I just want to fall asleep.

I think that juggling is the perfect metaphor for your life!

And if you are hungry all the time, at least you are in Italy where satisfying hunger is a pleasure.

Yes that is true (for both), although satisfying hunger for me is a pleasure anywhere in the world… :stuck_out_tongue:

Wednesday, January 28th

The hours of the day suddenly got less…

This will not be very detailed, training was same as last two days, times were:

  • 3.37, 2.57, 2.62
  • 3.25, 2.60, 2.56

seeing as you are in Italy :stuck_out_tongue:

//youtu.be/u9OOjr7odPY

Ha, thank you John.

Thursday, January 29th

Training felt nice today. I think it’s because I went to the dark straight of the track, where it was nice, more private, and quiet. This is one time (among many… :o) when I don’t feel like being social (or stared at) … I just want to train.

Did my isos
Did my 20s (flying w/10m and not)
Took a long break with some isos again.
Did my 20s again (as above)
Times remain consistent which is a good thing:

  • 3.22, 2.75, 2.63
  • 3.28, 2.66, 2.60
(I know the distances are small and it’s hard to claim “accurate”, but … whatever happens, happens. I’ll try for the best).

Other than that, lots of reading.

Oh:

  • Juggling for 20min. I also tried juggling 2 with one hand (it worked :)) and juggling 4 (it didn’t work :()

You will progress in juggling so much faster than I did . . . :o

 Who knows, I don’t “train” religiously like you do. I made a video of me with the 3… :stuck_out_tongue: maybe I’ll post somtime.

Creo que voy a hacerlo tambien pero no estoy muy bueno…

Dejan, I am trying to learn Italian… not Spanish … :frowning:

Friday January 30th

Technically speaking, training was good.

I don’t feel like posting, really.

My love, If you dont learn some spanish… how we will communicate in the future?:o

Babel fish?

somehow this kinda feels like interrupting something private…oh well :stuck_out_tongue:

Hahaha… John… :stuck_out_tongue:

Dejan, we’ll settle with Greek/English/Italian…

Friday, January 30th.

(yesterday’s bad day)

(isos, sprint, isos, sprint)

  • 3.35, 2.80, 2.75
  • 3.32, 2.85, 2.77

Saturday, January 31st.

Walking around and being a tourist allll morning with a friend.

(isos, sprint, isos, sprint)

  • 3.22, 2.54, 2.46
  • 3.25, 2.55, 2.52

Then very hungry.

Good day…

Sunday, February 1st.

Happy month =)

No way, it’s snowing again… I thought my Connecticut days were over :o

Track was normally closed, janitor opened it just for me, isn’t that nice…
So I trained in the morning (9:30), for the first time.
It’s harder to function then. (John, I am not like you =) )

Isos, sprints, isos, sprints.

I had some head wind today (didn’t switch directions for practical reasons…and it was WAY too cold to spend time walking to the other side… :o)

  • 3.33, 2.72, 2.60
  • 3.25, 2.60, 2.56

Monday, February 2nd

Yucky snow-rain. Then rain.

Whole track was covered with snow, I love it when I go there and find a shoveled lane…

isos, sprint, isos, sprint
Trained in the rain today (which I really enjoy…)

  • 3.19, 2.54, 2.56
  • 3.09, 2.44, 2.56

Tuesday, February 3rd

Training in the morning today (blahhh…) because there is a stupid event in the evening, nad track closes at 8.

Isos, sprint, isos, sprint

  • 3.16, 2.59, 2.56
  • 3.23, 2.63, 2.62

My left shoulder keeps tweaking during sprints today and yesterday, and today it was for both shoulders. Today also my butt tweaked…
I wonder what a strained butt feels like. Ouch.

Things are going well. Except perhaps that I am more painting and training (and chatting with Dejan) rather than doing doctorate work… :o
Academics always work out in the end though… I am not so worried about it.
I gave myself a strict deadline, plus I don’t exactly see this as school.

I should be reading more though… It puts me right to sleep these days.
