Optimal Sprint Spikes

I just got a pair of mizuno geo spark 3. All I can say is that this is the best shoe I have ever owned. They feel incredible like they were custom made. The plate is perfect. The plate feels so much thinner and responsive than anything I have ever tried. Guess what my next pair will be

I recently recieved my Asics Cyberflash spikes in the mail.
Although they are the 2004 model, These are revolutionary.
They fit perfect to my feet, excellent spike plate and the stiffness of the aptle is perfect. I hoping to test these shoes out soon. I wonder how they feel for curves and hurdles?.

Can someone help me here. I bought the Mizuno Geo Sparks in the same size as my Nike’s, hearing from people here that the Mizuno’s fit a little smaller than Nike’s. Well, I got the Mizuno’s today and they feel a good half size bigger than I need them to be. I don’t have the time to send them back to Eastbay and hope for a refund. Is there anyway to make these fit a bit better in the toe area since I have some extra space? I was thinking about cutting some cloth from a sock and putting it in the back, any other ideas?

Davan, take my advice and either take them back(i know its inconveinient but you must) or don’t use them at all.the spike should fit snug if there is any friction you’ll be in pain and running differently.please take my advice seriously

If it had only been a tad bigger, I would be okay with it, but it is just too big, which I have no idea why after reading about it here. It hurts to have to bite and accept the loss. Maybe I’ll sell it to somebody, I don’t know. Thanks for the help though.

Anyone tried or own the Adidas Adistar Powersprints? The older ones, in Silver/Orange/Black. Opinions? I am wearing the current Asics cybersprints, and wondering what the comparison would be…

Yeah, I have those, the silver, pheonix and black powersprint II’s. They’re really comfortable, but to be really truly honest, the most comfortable spikes I’ve ever worn were the same powersprint II’s but the red and black ones. Apparently the guy who owned them added some sort of light cushioning and they were like running on air. I think I ran my best 200 on the powersprints, and I haven’t competed in the new silver and black ones, but they’re nice and comfy, although they are a little thinner than my superfly’s, but I’m sure that they’ll stretch a bit.

Hope that helps, despite the fact that I’ve never used the cybersprints.

How could I have forgotten this thread!

Update…I was blessed with a pair of Mizuno SS Chronos to run in for the outdoors. These by far are the greatest spikes know to man!! X-man I know like myself you love Mizuno…but these are beyond love…i’m obsessed with these spikes! I take them out of the bag from time to time and hug them

On the real tho…I ran 10.59 in these…droppin nearly 0.5 of my pb…Now i’m not sayin it was just the spikes but in my mind they paid a part in it! Big thumbs up from me.

New update on the powersprint II’s - I broke them!!! apparently you can’t run curves in them or they break!!! at least that’s what happened to me. I’m getting a pair of the asics cyberflash the silver ones when I tried them on they were pretty nice, bit I got an old pair of mizuno’s I think they’re the snipers… not sure but I’ll get a picture up of them, those are sweet!!!

Those powersprints and demolishers had numerous plate problems. I’ve witnessed plates snapping during training.I think thats why they changed the plate on the newer models.

good on ya jason…i’ve always considered ian mackie ass a very lucky individual(apart from his injuries).whenever we stayed together he would show me prototype mizuno shoes and i would be druelling…

LOL nice one! It was like that when my good friend Paul Brizzel had new Mizunos as well!! He was one of the first I saw with the black and red flame Geo Sparks! I was like NOOOOOO! I gotta have them!

Is there any good place to buy the mizuno spikes? In the USA, it’s hard to find anything but the “basic” low level sprint spikes by Mizuno.

jason ain’t he with fila.don’t think he had anything got to do with mizuno unless he knew someone on the inside of the company.

mortac i would use mail order to get your mizunos.well worth the wait trust me

He must have had close ties with Mizuno…At present he’s with Brookes.

So what’s the consensus on the best spike for a 400m runner (primarily) with the 200m thrown in there every so often… ? Maxcats? Geo Spark?

Chrono INX

Best website to find these at?

I have the adidas Adistar light sprint which i like alot they are light and flexible i got the nike zoom super fly G5 but its a bit bigger i think light spikes are better for narrow feet and rigid spikes are for wider feet
any comment

No luck finding the Chrono’s mentioned above except at the Mizuno Japan website… Those spikes look awesome. Next best thing besides these spikes? Im still kinda drawn to the maxcats (white ones), but if there are better Mizuno or Aasics that are better and available in the US, then I’ll go with those… .
