what mizuno spikes are your favorite?
Just picked up the new Asics Cyberflash (Blue). Awesome!!
Definitely my geo spark’s! Not found a better spike yet…
the Tokyo is $90 and the Geo Spark is $110. The spike plate is the same
and so is the weight. The main difference is that the Geo Spark has laces
as well as straps on the upper.
We just recieved the new spikes from Mizuno. The Tokyo is
silver/navy/orange and the Geo Spark has been discontinued becuase of the
similarities. I hope that helps.

What are everybody’s thoughts about the Puma Sprint spikes called Thesus? Are they a stiff spike plate? how much do they weigh? overall are they a pretty good spike?
Ok, definetly decided to give up Nike and go Mizuno. Superfly out and Geo Sparks in . But the only way to get my hands on a pair is to order online so the problem is to figure out what size to order. Those of you that have used both Nike and Mizuno is there any difference in their sizes?
Another problem is that the shop I’m gonna order from uses UK-sizes, but Nike and Mizuno seems to translate their US to UK sizes diffrently . Any Idea what a Nike (Superfly) US 7 would be in a Mizuno UK?
Should be a UK 6. But my bet would be to get a US7.5/UK6.5 as the mizunos come up a bit small.
Anyone else got some experience with size diffrence between Nike and Mizuno. There’s got to be a few of you that have tested both brands.
Btw it seems to be to sprint spikes with the Chrono name on the japanese Mizuno site. CHRONO INX SS (worned by Shingo Suetsugo) and CHRONO INX WR. The only difference I could see is that the SS have covered laces wich makes it a little bit heavier.
My experience is that the Nikes run just a little bit smaller than the Mizunos (probably less than a 1/2 size difference.) YMMV.
Damn, look this soles…
SS is a super elastic model as u said,
probabily lighter.
They’re exactly the same shoe but heavier.
Hmm. Now You got me really confused guys. Rookie says “Should be a UK 6. But my bet would be to get a US7.5/UK6.5 as the mizunos come up a bit small.”
But xlr8 says “My experience is that the Nikes run just a little bit smaller than the Mizunos (probably less than a 1/2 size difference.)”
So one is saying Mizunu is a little bit smaller and one is saying it’s the Nike that’s the smaller one?! Which one of the two should I base my choice on? At the moment I’m leaning towards a pair of UK6 (remeber I use US7 on the Nike’s).Anyone think that I should choose differently?
Btw the Chrono SS is the heavier shoe with its 150 grams. Chrono WR is 5 grams lighter (145 grams).
Sorry I can’t be more help. I’m just going by my own experience. I have some old Nike Zoom Shift Flys and some (relatively) newer Mizuno Geo Sparks both in the same size. The Mizuno’s are a bit more snug on my foot.
xlr8: Thanks, so I going for the same size then. Could you see if your Nikes and Mizunos have the same UK-sizes? I belive the UK-size might not be the same in both shoes but the US-sizes might be same, as the brands apparently translates the sizes diffrently.
I think i can help here…as a man who has worn both I can tell you that they come up the same. I get a size 9 (uk) in Nike and Mizuno. I hope this clears up the situation.
Yeah thats should answer my question! Many thanks!
get em while there hot…
mizuno tokyo at eastbay for 49.99… got catalogue today.
Heh guys…thought i’d try the patent black Nike Maxcats…They are awesome…ran an indoor PB in them on my first outing wearing them (6.87s). Nice and flexible plate. Very light as well. Recommended.
I bought a pair of Mizunos this year, after being fed up with shoes blistering my feet. The Mizunos were about the 15th pair I tried on. What sold me on them was this strap that goes above the laces and tightens up the heel. They fit so glove-like I don’t know if there’s any place a blister is possible. Highly reccommended, I’ll try to find the name of the model.
Trying to find the new Asics velcro strapped orange spikes that have recently been worn by Jason Gardner and Patrick Johnson. Any ideas? Looked on the Asics’ sites (including USA, UK and Japan), with no luck. Are they sponsor only?
