Actually, they mailed the neurotrac to me in Dana Point, CA.
I see that the new ems 7500 is now on the market with a freq up to 150. i want to use the machine for my son 15 years old , what do you suggest the setting must be

Has anyone purchased this unit? How does it look for strengthening purposes? or is it more of a theraputic ems unit? thanks for any response.
Low freq, It’s better up to 150-180-200…
I have the Neuro Trac Sports Unit (not 4?), I have had it for 1year. Works very well. The custom programs are perfect for designing your outputs.
The pads that come with it are not very good, I recomend the Dura-Stick II’s, they last a long time.
The unit is more than enough for most athletes, I have not used it on large football players who have higher percent body fat.
i was lookin to buy an EMS unit that wouldnt cost an arm and a leg and this one is pretty cheap, but does that mean it won’t get the job done? the ramp time is 1sec, what implications would that have on its effects? I don’t want it for recovery as much as strength maintainence and plyos complement. I also have very low bf% so wouldnt that mean I need less power, although I don’t know how much that matters as opposed to fibre composition

Has anyone tried the Cefar brand of muscle stims? They seem to have similar functions to the Compex units.
http://www.heartratemonitor.co.uk/compex_cefar_muscle_stimulators.html
Thanks NumberTwo, I’m looking at a Cefar right now.
I’ve narrowed it down to the:
[ul]Cefar Activ 4 Muscle Stimulator - which has a descent maximum 120Hz, but Im unsure of its Ramp up time and the available rest periods, it doesnt really specify? I found it for a great price though.[/ul]
also, the:
[ul]Neuro Trac Sports EMS which has been recommended by nap. 100hz, perfect ramp up time, and lots of time for rest intervals:) fair price too[/ul]
and finally, the:
[ul]EMS 7500 Digital Electronic Muscle Stimulator which is so damn cheap I dont know what to think! 150hz, fair ramp up time, and lots of time for rest. [/ul]
so ill just have to end up making a decision, ganna keep researching that Cefar, cause i found it pretty cheap and it looks like a solid unit. Just gotta figure out all its parameters.
I’m pushing for you to buy the Cefar to find out what it is like!
Enjoyed the article on the Compex unit! hopefully one day ill be able to afford one as well, or maybe ill meet a poor fellow willing to sell me one!
Ummm, so that Cefar was a whopping good price on Ebay (with at least a day left to bid) but once there was about an hour left, the price shot through the roof, i dont know what some of them were thinking, i mean, they coulda bought it anywhere online for the price it went up to. So im sad to say i wont be buying the Cefar. it went to about $600.
Then I was going to just buy the cheap unit (ems 7500 for $50) but it turns out it only ships to the US.!!
So finally, I ended up having to order the Neuro Trac Sports EMS, which is a very nice unit and ill be glad once it arrives. It was the unit with the lowest frequency - 100hz, but had the best ramp up time (0.1-9.9sec), and the most relaxation time. plus ive used it before and its very user friendly and quite small. only 2 pads, but whatever, its also a fair $200.
Ill reply again once the unit arrives and ive had some time to tinker around with it:) probably wont be here for another week cause they have to order the unit in, they were outa stock.
I have the 4000R model here @ $350:
http://www.body-tone.com/ems4000.htm
This thing is ridiculously powerful. I haven’t even been able to move the dial past a 4 on a scale of 10! I’m quite sure you could kill yourself with this machine if you wanted to.
I actually only needed the 2000 model which is $255. I never use more than 2 channels at a time and I don’t use the “russian stim” (whatever the hell that is?)…
To be honest, I don’t really use EMS that much. It is a valuable tool though if you get injured and can’t run or lift for some reason.
The other factor with Compex is the massivly expensive pads! Running it with good pads costs a bomb. So i keep onld ones for pulsing and new ones for Max Strength.
I do it the same.
Another good idea is to go to the pharmacy and buy a simple supersonic gel for <5 $.
its great to use the pads much longer with better contact.
Why not use generic pads… they should probably work as good as the expensive ones?
i dont think they work as good.
i called compex germany ones and askes for permanent pads:
you can buy them(normally they are just for physios and so on). They are expensive they said, i dont know the price so far.
i will go or it - maybe its worthy…
The pads I bought from the Chattanooga Group are very good (very sticky) and last a hell of a lot longer than the Compex ones.

Agreed. I took NumberTwo’s recommendation and bought Dura Stick II pads. I have used the same pads for like 6+ sessions and they are still in great shape.
And this is where I have a problem because I have the “better” model with the clip on electrodes. Works nice but the pads are like $4-6 each! Remember you need 8 pads to run the unit!!
I see all of these EMS machines listed in this thread, but is there any general concensus as to which machine is best (gets the job done, money considered as well)?
i use the Compex Sport 400(prodoct preview at CF.com homepage).
Its great and i bought it at ebay new for 400 or 500 euro
