That power clean in the first rep is a shocker. I would hate to be her back. The angle on the first pull makes me cringe. Much more dangerous than the example Merlene does. That girl is lifting too heavy for her development. She should go lighter on the clean and work on deadlifts with good technique for a while.

Weight 168
Clean 240
Bench 250
Squat 320
16 y/o

DBjohn, very impressive - whats your background?

weight 165
Bench 335
squat 415 deep
deadlift 485
clean 225
curl 190

That’s very impressive. What r your sprint times over 60 or 100m as I am trying to find out how much correlation there is between clean strength and sprinting speed.

Jumbo,

so instead of the jump thats done from when the weight is just above the knee, i should maintain both feet flat on the ground and pull the weight up like that???

whats everyone`s Weighted Chin Press?

I hear that Kellie White who just posted 10.93 into a strong head wind cleans 185lbs 2-3 reps…

Kenny Mac~~~

lebeau,

here’s a link that shows frame by frame the techniques of some of the greatest weightlifters performing the snatch and the clean and jerk. hope this helps, at the very least, it’s inspirational!

Goose2,

I’m a longjumper and haven’t been running any 60m or 100m for many years.
My speed in the last 5m (6m-1m) is 10,8 m/s.

I weigh 150-155 and used to clean about 185…I dip way under the bar into a deep front squat too.

CoolColCol

Whats with this women, with all the animals.

DCW - everyone has different back angles, that is one thing I know from studying olylifters. Not everyone is bolt upright. Differnet lever lengths and so on. You have to keep the shoulders in front of the bar and the centre of gravity forward.
if you try to start more upright, your body will shoot the butt up and instinctively move to a balanced position, because the weight has to be balanced over the centre of gravity

Granted I don’t think her form is that good an example though - lacks extension
In any case nothing wrong with forward lean, when doing a snatch the amount of torso lean is considerbaly greater

SHumon - those are Kanagaroos

here is a vid someone sent me, of a propely trained female olylifter - although still a begineer.

notice the back angle.

right click and save it if it cuts off short - tehre should be a jerk afterwards as well.

Afta 2 months of lay off, I jus cleand 185. I am bout to break 50 foot in the shot. not bad for a 30 year old.
