Optimal Sprint Spikes

Right. Powercat. And I agree that the G5 plate is fairly rigid, though I’ve seen posts on this forum that suggest that they are flexible enough.

I am soo happy with my blue japan lightning’s fro masics.
They really light, and feel a bit strang ein the beginning. But They’re really fast(for)
only downside, i need at least 3 pair a season and they ar enot cheap here.

How many meets are you using them for?

I use a cheap pair of adidas for practice and my lightnings for meets. The asics are very “race-ish” and minamailist. They almost feel like they are good for only a few races. They were probably meant for sponsored athletes who have a bunch of the same spike every season…

i did some races in the witer with them(2 or 3) i am using them for my speed workouts also now, since a few weeks.
I think i will use them for some meets the next few weeks. But i already ordered a new pair. I want to run at least 2 meets in the new shoes before running the nationals

Having mislaid my old Superflys’s I had to use my even older JSC’s (same plate as the maxcat) in a meet yesterday and suddenly I felt like I was all frequency, but no “bounce”. Anyone else experience something similar?

A few of my team mates have to japan thunders (mid - longer distance spikes) and the same problem applyed, they didnt last through out the whole season. I had the old cyberflash, nasty shoe its still in fairly good shape when I wore to meets and practices

I just ordered some Asics Japan Lite-ning’s any feedback on them? as for useage on a cinder track vs a synthetic track? They seem pretty light at 4.5oz in size 9.

Older post-just caught it…yes, Thor I’ve got Superfly’s and Maxcats as well. I agree-my fastest 30m flys have been in the Maxcats [I have Brower timing], but my 100 pb 's have been in the Superflys.

In my 30m flys my turnover is highest in the Maxcats, but over 100m the firmness of the Superfly plate seems to tax me less, with more bounce, and I feel I can really make some distance on each stride.

Damn…only noticed this AFTER getting a pair of Nike Zoom Celars while browsing past threads.

Well, I have never had to pleasure of running in a spike before but it was vastly different.

My drive phase has improved so much, I think I have cut like 0.5 off my time just by using spikes. usually my first 3-4 steps are pretty crap and don’t get me very far (like 5m) and my foot kept slipping at the start so I couldn’t really explode off the mark.

With spikes I can get off the mark really well. It also has helped my pick-up and I feel so much faster by 30m.

Only problems I have so far is that it dosen’t fit my right foot although it fits my left perfectly. The outside of my right is hurting and the inside of the midsole also cuts in to my foot.

I have two sets of spikes. One is sharp whereas my Nike ones sort of have layers which keeps getting smaller. The last layer is flat. Which one is better?

Anyway I’m really pleased with them, knocking 0.5 off your time without having to do any work is great

for all you asics fans

nice looking, cant wait to get that pretty white dirty for jumping.

what events are they for? distance?

whats up with the front spike? or should i say spikes? is it replaceable?

i like these mizuno they look like greenes one in edmonton are they good

Do you tell this from experience or did you read about this? I’m having some problems with my achilles and use the adidas demolisher, my old Nike’s had the Zoom Super Fly plate on it and they were a little more flexible. Could this be on of the sources for my achilles problems?

They are for sprinting only. I think they are only available in japan plus they cost about 20,000yen.

where in gods name do you find those fantastic shoes?

A great place to find those fantastic shoes we probably never will see irl (cause they are often limited versions that are only sold in Japan) is http://www.rakuten.co.jp/tf-tsubaki/563782/ as have been mentioned in some earlier post. It’s in japanese so you could use http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html to be able to read some of infos.
There are a bunch of shoes overthere I wouldn’t say no to…
Most of them are Japan-limited but the new Geo Spark will hopefully be available worldwide. Anyone seen them around yet? I’m really happy with the Geo Spark 3 but it’s impossible to find a new pair in my size (us7) and it would be nice to upgrade them to the latest model

If these shoes are so great, why are they mega-expesnive and why aren’t Asafa, Tyson Gay, Leonard Scott, etc wearing them?

Fantastic=overpriced. Where are my cheetah spikes?

contracts=$$$$$$$$…

So why don’t you guys go ahead and buy the $200 spikes and beat the guys with contracts? Wonder if Macrozonaris has a pair?

those japan only model srock…
but you just cant buy them , i did try but they dont ship,
also they’;re really expensive!
