Optimal Sprint Spikes

Im going with the Mizuno Tokyos in Silver/Royal/Orange. I got them for $29.99 from dickpondathletics.com … Originally 100… Practically a steal! Im looking forward to using them. Bye, bye Nike spikes.

I just had my first comp with these lite nings.
ran 2 training with them.

very flexible, but VERY light.
Ran a pb on an indoor 400 m. So thay seem great, But i have thefeeling these spikes won’t last a full season. maybe ware them about 20 times and then have to buy new ones.

Funny. Ask your girl Halle to buy you some new spikes… She got the loot

Just got sent my new Mizuno kit from Japan. The new Chrono INXs are HOT! Same great plate as the last ones, but with a better shroud, still got the tried and tested INX lacing system. Unbelievable!!!

come on D post us some photos

yeah come on lets see a picture…

sounds like a plan.

Just got my Tokyo’s in… These spikes are awesome! Trying them out tomorrow in practice…

That’s funny, I just got my tokyos when I got home too! I tried them on first thing, and they fit perfectly. Are yours the silver ones with the blue bottoms or the newer reddish pink looking ones? Either way, I’ll also be back tomorrow to report how they felt. I have a feeling though, that I’m gonna like them better than the entry-level nike rival spikes I’ve been using.

As a side note, I’ll be getting the Asics Turbo Phantom delivered in the next week or two, and I’ll report back on how those feel.

I got the silver ones with the royal blue plate. Things are sweet!!

OK, here ya go, my new kicks.

Damn… Im envious over here. I’ll settle with my tokyos though

Dazed…Very nice…I prefer my silver ones still…the blue limited edition ones were and are still the ones I like best. Are you on a full Mizuno contract? I have a basic kit deal with them but the struggle to get me the Japan spikes. I was lucky to have a friend who was working at Mizuno Europe (who’s now left) who knew the correct channels to get the shipped to the UK. Where are you based bro?

anyone know of a good 60m, 100m, shoe that has a strap NO shroud an room for a small lift? my adidas on hills my heel comes out cause of the lift.

Try the mizuno geo spark 3’s they feel great for the 100 and under… its all straps to so its a good fit…

my adidas are a 11.5 anyone know what i would wear in a mizuno geo spark 3?

like an 11 or 10.5

Hello everyone,I need help with a few concepts relationed with that thread:

-what are the differences between a solid and a non solid plate?(a few days ago a friend told me to get a new pair of spikes with a rigid sole,I have the adidas lightsprint 2)

-and what´s about with the long and the shortness of the plate? How could I know how long or short my spikes are?

-Finally I would like to know your opinion on this spikes :
1-superfly g5 nike
2-supershift nike
3-powercat nike
4-demolisher adidas(are power sprint the same?)
5-meteor adidas
6-adistar sp
7-lightsprint adidas

(I weight 178 and height 6.01)

Lot of thanks in advance  see you!!!

My understanding is that a very flexible spike plate is desirable. Stiff plates don’t allow you to flex and push off your toes very well and can put pressure on the achilles. Yet, for some reason, some sprinters prefer the stiffer plate.

I believe the Supercat and G5 have similar plates, and from what I hear are flexible.

I think supershift is stiff. Demolisher is stiff. Meteors are flexible (and cheap – $19). I don’t know about the other two.

Maybe you mean Powercat, not ‘supercat’?

Also the descriptions of both those spikes (Powercat and G5) on eastbay says they have a rigid plate - but hey maybe they flex enough.

I posted a list of current high end spikes with some info on weights and number/type of spikes in each plate, but I didn’t list anything about flex or plate length. Maybe I’ll do some more surfing and post up an edit with that info. Still it doesn’t compare with actually trying the spikes out for real.
