For example
3sets of 5 deadlifts then 3 sets of 2 squats
or
3 sets of 2 squats and 3 sets of 5 deadlifts
Thanks adi

If you are going to continue to do Deadlifts and squats in the same workout - Chris. T. recommends that you only concentrate on progressing in one of the lifts, and just maintain the other.
If I had to choose, I’d do deads first.
Preferrabley, split them up.
What I do:
Back squat 80 % + range.
Conventional deadlift the same.
3-6 reps, 3-4 sets
Instead of deadlifting/squatting on the same day, why not try either:
Back Squats
Reverse Hyper
or
Deadlifts
Reverse Leg Press
Thought it was a good thing to do deadlift and squats on the same day… because squat hits mostly quads and deadlift hits mostly back, glutes, hams. = a complete leg workout
Regarding a sprint/weight programme, I would prefer to do squat and deads in the same workout so that I could fit everthing in sufficiently during the week. However, due to the high neural stress demand on the lumbar sprine I would only do deads once a week anyway. Why not replace 1 session of deads with 1 session of good mornings to develop the back. Good morning done correct can have better strength development of the spine with less neural stress. Good mornings can also be adapted with experience to involve the hams and glutes very well also.
depends on how you squat, and how you deadlift.
deadlifts have high impact on the CNS - applies for any exercise where you hold a large load in your hands.
If you have 2 speed/weights workouts a week, it is not enough with 1 squat during the week? same with dl , if you do deadlift then I would have done it twice a week to get progression.
Or am i wrong? naa…
OK, say you train them on different days, how would you fit them into a weekly or extended week programme, with sufficient recovery from muscle groups and CNS? I know you can, but it just becomes a bit tricky if you like to train each movement atleast twice per week. If I trained them on different days I would do 2 squat sessions a week and 1 deadlift session, but I put more importance on the squat. This may not suit others.
i agree with X and cool. i do power snatch and deads, hanging cleans and squats and flat bench and standing push press…m,w,f.
its worked really well for me this off season.
do deadlift first
If you do deadlift first your back may not cope with your usual weight in the squat which could be dangerous. A fatigued back in the squat may also prevent developing the quads etc as well. I find if I squat first my back is nicely prepared to deadlift, and I know I have given my quads etc a decent workout.
OK… I think its individual though. Do what works for you. I think its more important to have a fresh back when doing deadlift than doing squat.
It also depends what is the primary goal. Most of time in sprinting that would surely be to develop the legs in preference to the back.
I am only doing 3 sets anyways
Hey Richard… deadlift dont just hit the back, it also hits the hams and glutes. Deadlift is very important to sprinting.
It also depends on the intensity but 3 sets can still be very taxing and probably will be in this game. If in doubt try comparing the 2 methods.
VG,
Sure deadlifting hits the glutes and hams, but this may only be placed in favour of squat if the quads where not an issue.
they hit the same muscle groups, so why do them together?!
Agree with Cool, why do both in the same session? Do deadlifts one day and squats on another!
