Hey guys what type of weight routine does Maurice Green follow? Thanks

There was an article in muscular development in 2000(I think) said he did pause squats, benches, power cleans among other things. Sorry, I don’t remember much past that.

Thanks:D Pioneer anyone else know any more about Maurice Greens weight routine!

Nice link! Thanks,Pavel.

In the tips section of his website he states, ‘‘I spend an hour in the weight room and then I hit the track. You don’t have to lift a lot of weight to get strong…less weight with more reps is much better. Remember, if you can’t use it on the track then there’s no reason for doing it.’’ ???

He is referring to doing acceleration work after weight. It’s based around the concept of power conversion.

With regard to the heavy weights, he probably feels he is strong enough and can spend his CNS energy more effectively elsewhere?

sorry, just one question. please post a link as to what CNS is

Your central nervous system. Its what gets tired when you perform very intense work and makes you feel drained.

Have you got CFTS?

no i don’t unfortunately. I know about the cns however, i just never used the acronym.

Hey Pavel, do you have an English translation for that article on Mo Greene?

dcw23, the tips section of Green’s website should generalise and therefore not confuse anyone, this therefore is not a clever a tip if it refers to an alternative programme mainly for himself.

There is a translation to english option on the top left hand corner of the main page.

I actually followed maurice’s greene lifting schedule…it got my endurance up a lot

Lifting before running has always puzzled me. It seems to be risking injury by sprinting on already tired muscles.

What are Rear Delt DB Flyes?

waynehobley, I assume they are bent over lateral raises, either standing or sitting.

Alot of people lift weights before training but it all depends on the workouts coming afterwards and the intensity…i think it may stimulate the muscles more so than hurt them…besides u dont really feel sore until later (delayed onset muscle soreness)…

I think that it depends on both the experience of the athlete, what has been done in the gym and what is to be done in the track session.

HSI don’t tend to perform particularly hard weight sessions, and when they do it doesn’t appear to be before speed work. I think both lifting before and lifting after have their merits and both, as well as the different effects they have should be considered when writing out a training programme.

How bout lifting before acceleration work, and lifting afterwards for Max V or Speed End. And how long a rest between lifting then running or running then lifting. What’s too much, and what’s too little.
