Hamstring pulls

Swelling and hemorrhage needs to be controlled in the early stages of an injury, as they will impair and prolong the onset of the regeneration phase of the repair process. The WBC that participate in the acute inflammatory phase early on after the injury has occured (neutrophils, macrophages, etc.) are not the same as those that mediate the actual repair process (mainly fibroblasts). The latter will only start their work once the former have finished theirs, which is why you want to shorten the acute inflammatory response.

Mmm…

My OTHER hammie had a contraction today during 40s. Out of nowhere.

And sprinting was feeling soo so fine.

I was actually PB’ing…

Dear God…

well, back to rehab the other way around. BTW, too early after the last incident to be PBing but it’s natural if you’re not careful because everything is rested and it’s hard to resist. Hang in there.

Thank you Charlie.

Would Arnica help at all with a tendon problem? Charlie, jamirok, no23, others? Thanks!

not sure- I’d think you’d start with Chondroiten and Glucosamine

Traumeel which has arnica works well for lots of things. I also found zheng gu shui works well on joints/bone. Rub on once in morning, once at night.

Charlie, thank you! I’ll have a look and come back, if needed, for further details.

ESTI, we’ve tried just that, but progress has been slow for this athlete and/or the time available perhaps. Could you provide a link with the zheng gu shui? What is it?

One of my athletes stumbled upon it. I posted in a forum here, but seemed like limited use from members. Results have been good for knee pain using this. Main ingredient is camphor. The shipping is usually more than the bottle, so I get a set of 4 or more and give them to my athletes.

Also, I believe another member here tried the plastic bag and heat rubs on a joint sprain and said it helped.

What about electricity on the tendon problem?

A few months back I was crippled with upper hamstring tendonitis. Since supplementing with glucosamine the problem went away. It may not have been the glucosamine that healed it but who knows.

Traumeel is often injected into the deficit at the injury site and does a great job but must be done by a specialist using a high resolution ultrasound to see exactly where to put it.

Yes, possibly electro-accupuncture or other means to line up the proper charge on either side of the ion channels to promote nutrient exchange, removal of waste products, etc.

Isn’t Traumeel a homeopathic remedy? I used to use it myself and on my clients but stopped using when I discovered that Homeopathy is really a sham with no basis in science. Is there something different about Traumeel that actually makes it effective compared to regular homeopathic remedies which appear to do abosultely nothing since there’s absolutely “nothing” in them.

No more of a sham than ‘science’ is.

The injections were done by a doctor, but with no ultrasound (we were lucky to get them as we did…).

As for chondroitin, glucosamine and omega 3s (as you’ve suggested in another post) are all included in Joint Support, which we’ll try (I’ve heard good things about it from different sources, so…)

We also tried a powerful laser yesterday, which seemed to help. We’ll see; still a day by day thing…

Traumeel comes from Dr Muller Wolfhart from Germany and he’s had a fantastic record for injury treatments. I’ve seen the injections work myself, including clearing a 3cm tear in less than two weeks.

It may help a little - but not really. Check your pm

As a person who is involved in reseach at a major research-based hospital, as well as in evo. bio. research, there is an awful lot that is neglected in medicine or simply cannot be understood. For example, people look at sham electroacupuncture working as well as “real” electroacupuncture to say it is just placebo, but neglect the fact the real, unique, and measurable effects are seen that are not observed in “other” placebos. Throwing out the baby with the bath water.

On the other side, we have plenty of studies showing how “great” blood pressure meds and birth control are, when it is known these have numerous problems for a large percentage of people and dare I say way overprescribed. Yet somehow, arnica/traumeel/acupuncture/etc. are shams… but you’re telling me giving a girl birth control to handle moderate acne isn’t a sham?

There are just a lot of things we do not know yet.
