would there ever be a place for 400s in a short-long plan for 100m? would it be that bad for an occasional 200m or 400m during the indoor season, even if one is going short-to-long?
Also, how did you follow long-short up in Canada on your track? I thought the turns were too tight for good 300s?
L to S is easier here for girls as they don’t go round the corners as fast- though still difficult.
With an S to L sprint program, I’d think the only wat would be if you planned to compete at that dist. Otherwise it wouldn’t seem to fit.
So I take it L-S on a track like that would work with guys only up to a borderline intermediate level (~10.7-10.8 ability) before they were too fast for the tight turns?
I got the impression from Speed Trap that you were still doing 300s w/ your athletes through indoor (but after a GPP period) and only changed late into Ben’s career. Am I right or wrong on this point?
i also do feel kinda sorry for mlf, but he had the chance to go to america (with gatlin?), so he could have done well. he still has time to fix things though.
No, he isn’t even competant at training yet. You have to first learn how to train and then build up from there in a systematic programme planned over many years. And it is my belief you also have to stay in a programme for some time in order to get the most from it. I just think that something has changed since he was good and it is a simple as that.
i think it is possible G-force, but im sure he can improve. he held off mo greene in athens, and mo ran 9.88 (?) in the 100m. should get a sub 10 from him.
I dont think anything changed. He had the same coach and similar programme from the age of 8 or 12? He only changed his training after the world champs 05. How much do you know about marks training?
How far behind was mo? cuz he was catching mark pretty fast!!! I would like to see mark run sub10 but i’m not sure if that will happen. He needs to sought out his starts first cuz 6.72 wont get him where he wants to be.
