Churandy Martina, right, [LEFT, ACTUALLY] from the Netherlands Antilles, sticks his tongue out as he wins the gold medal in the men’s 4 x 100 relay at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia, Saturday, July 29, 2006. Jamaica’s Carl Barrett, center, finished second to win the silver medal and Dominique Demeritte, from Bahamas, right, finished third to win the bronze

^^^^lol
If asafa was on that anchor would he be sticking his tounge out.

Not very classy. However, I wouldn’t be suprised if something led up to it. There can be a lot of BIG AND VERY VOCAL TALK :stuck_out_tongue: in around the track as to which island is the greatest. So I wouldn’t be suprised if he was provoked.

Yea it probablywas some shit talk going on. I have been guilty of showing out at track meets. SO i cant blame him

One hand open, the other clenched! Looks like she’s just about to stop so it’s hard to draw anything definitive from one frame, as good as it is. As regards the arms/hands, perhaps she needs that discipline/control right side. But she looks strong all over. Who is she?

Nice shoes…Nike Free’s, I presume

it’s Kim Gevaert, I have a nude starting block pic of here too but dont know if this is permitted over here ( it’s sprint related  )

I’m interested in a discussion on Francis Obiqwelu. I think this guy demonstrates awesome top end speed and a technique different from other guys. A very short arm drive (carriage) Hands high at the front. Massive stride length!

Awesome!

it would be nice if someone could get some stats from this race, footsteps, 10m times etc. His last 40m must be around WR level I think.

OH, OK. me dumb. I thought it looked like Kim but then the first couple of letters on her bib, I thought must be going to read Spain/ Of course it would have been ESP. Anyway, good on her. She won the Euro 100 and I suppose she’s favourite now for the 200.

100m final EC, it appears as Kim’s blocks are set really short to eachother.

She has a real great start, always going to go in the shot, I remember when I was once on training camp with her that we had to do every start again, cause she went every time to fast out of the blocks. At then end of that training almost everyone had cramps in his fingers

What about her head position at ‘Set’. Is it ideal to have the head in line with the spine (looking slightly back towards her feet) or should the head be parallel to the track (looking straight down)?

Not sure about her ideal head position, but she seems to be having good results. Looking at the second pic, she appears to be nearly touching down on her second step while the others feet are still coming through.

Kim getting ready to do some starts?

The importance of RELAXATION:

Obikwelu looks like he has seen a ghost!

Russia’s Yevgeniya Isakova wins the women’s 400 m hurdles final at the European athletics championships in Gothenburg (Goteborg), August 9, 2006

Obikwelu wins Euro 200

How about this for a “step-over” action!
