Your "main" gauge for readiness

I mentioned something during my last post that brought up a
thought.

What are some things in your training sessions you do or
your athletes perform lets you know you’re ready
for the start of the season?

I read somewhere I believe that Jon Drummond stated that he
knows when his competition strength is up to par
when he can do 3 sets of 10 pull-ups.

I also read where this elite sprinter said he’s ready when he can
run 3 flying 100 m (20 m fly zone) in training under 9.5 sec w/ 5 min rest.

Mine are:

  • Once I can run sub37 sec in the 300m in flats

  • Bench Press 225lbs 9-10 times

  • 2 x 150m @ 100% w/ 12 min rest all under 16 sec

  • 4 sets of 5 reps of full squats w/ 295lbs

Once I hit these mark I know I
can start my season.

Not peaking just START the season.

If I can’t hit these standards I can save the humiliation during the
indoor season  I’ll wait for 5 more weeks before i open the season.

This should be interesting

Any replys?

Where are the athletes in here?

3 SETS OF 10 PULLUPS FOR JON DRUMMOND!?! is he kidding?
i do 4 sets of 12 easily as a warmup before i do my back exersises.

Don’t quote me on that I think that’s what he said.

I could be wrong… Maybe I was

This was stated in one of the HSI-features on Eurosport.
I don’t remember how many sets he mentioned, but Drummond said he knew he was ready to run sub-10 when he did them easily.
