With your start

is it better to have your foot on the spike pad or to have one spike on the ground?cause the way i’ve been doing it i have one spike on the track and the rest of my foot on the pad of the block but i noticed when i look at tapes of the fast 100m runers they have their whole foot on there.

I was taught to put my whole spike on the pad in the front and all half of the spike on the pad and half on the ground in the back. I’m sure it’s mostly just personal preference.

I wonder if there is an issue with the electronic device that measures reaction time/false starts in international meets if the foot is not completely (and with constant pressure) on the pad. I also put 1 spike on the track, and get the best results that way.
