why do they look so huge but way so little!!?

i have somewhat the same problem. i am 180cm, and the leanest i ever was, was prob’ 7.5%, but to me it seem like i didnt look as cut, but more important i felt like i dont have as much fuel for practice. meanin that i was gettin tired and exhuasted faster.
could anyone please share about that symptom, or any suggestions to keep the right diet, which would be healthy efficient, and not kill me performance in practice.
thank you.

I had the 2nd gave to a friend…never got it back. The third in the series is by far the best. It adds alot. The recipes are palatable and can be tweaked to meet your tastes. A good book. Just don’t lend out books to people that you know will not give them back…

I meant in regards to retaining bodyfat despite modest calorie intake and high energy expenditure.

Good point, especially if you are not getting enough carbs not good for the hormones you need for building and maintaining mass.

Well… the lady on the left apparantly ran a 11.2 with a headwind… I would like to know how tall she is and weighs

What did you do in terms of diet then? Also are you implying that this year your programme has been more anaerobic??

So the white guy is 6’2ish and 160lbs? Thats about what he looks like. Asafa’s 6’3 and about 190lbs. Guys i dont think you necessarily need to take down calorie intake unless your a glutton, i think its more of what your eating, and when your eating. Also the type of work outs your doing has a hugh impact, and as for abs, you can do all you want but if your not doing the right ones with the right form then all your gonna do is build and build without “cutting” them up, also a factor is tone of skin, i.e. if your really pale then your not going to show as much as a tan skinned person, even if the muscle is there.
P.S.
That chick on the left is hideous!

hey everyone, could anyone please give an example of a good diet that would keep my strength and energy levels at the top, but cut my weight to suit me best.
thank you.
p.s- all these protein shakes and crazy meals i read about earlirer in those postings, seems like i would gain so much weight with. but on the other hand the diets that i was on before really got me blacked out after a few months of practice. i would just show up to practice with Zero energy.

Man your best bet is to eat a brakfast with some protien and some carbs, then asuming you work out around 3 or 2 pm you would eat your lunc of mainly carbs, then directly following within 45min of session you would eat some proten for your muscles to build upon and not let your GH drop to low, then just eat a normal dinner before 7pm. You could just maybe eat fruits and stuff like that for brakfast, you want to stay away from sugers as best as possible. get at my privite msg and we can talk some more.

I’ll say it again check out Clarence Bass Ripped 3, thats a good start…

That’s why I’m not crazy about very low carb diets for athletes. Your thyroid function drops, which not only affects bodyfat but muscle protein turnover and recovery. Low carb might be effective periodically for people who just want to look pretty, but if you’re an athlete performing 10+ hours a week of high performance training, there’s no way a ketogenic (or near) diet is going to maintain optimal energy and recovery.

Spot on. Although if your a tubby, you might Have to do it in the off season just to get down? Then once your down, start your proper off season from then.

If you read Supertraining by Mel Siff, he spends quite a lot of space at the beginning discussing the overlooked anabolic effects of thyroid hormones. Adequate carb intake is necessary to maintain optimal thyroid function (assuming no other underlying problems).

An excellent point Flash. The thyroid hormones ALSO directly affect your fast twitch fibers. The cat family naturally have high thyroid hormones thats why they are so twitchy and lean. If you look at those who have hyperthyroidism they are relatively very lean (its an illness and its not what we a striving for). Of course we don’t want to by hyper with our thyroid hormone just optimal thats all…

Do you think each individual has a predetermined level of ‘leanness’? I guess it would make sense. I just say that, as like I have already said in this thread, I can lose weight, but I don’t have a particularly ripped appearance, and I’m wondering if maybe it’s just something I will never have? I have read Bass’ book and I like his ideas, as it seems a healthy way to do things to, with a high fibre intake and relying heavily on natural unrefined foods. I am 186-7cm and 77kg, which I would say is quite light for someone of that height anyway, and today I had to get fitted for a suit and my chest was only 38 inches, and I started thinking I’m skinny but not ripped, so maybe it’s not meant to be! I wondered if my best way to improve my power to weight ratio would be to increase my strength, even if that means putting on a couple of kg?? I also wondered if that would make for a more aesthetically pleasing figure?? I get really confused by all the nutrition information as so much of it is conflicting, and that coupled with the struggle to completely strip my body of fat does not help!!
