weird dilemma

how should the gpp and spp be set up if there’s no indoor season in my state. my summer track season should end on either august 1 or august 13. what should i do from that time until my outdoor season which begins on feb 24??? my first meet should be late march. i would appreciate your opinions  .

You can either do a simulated competition period, or do an extended training period in which you do a longer basing period. Not sure if there really are any advantages in one way over the other. If you’re lacking in general fitness an extended training phase will be great.

note: this is gonna be my fourth year running. i’ve never ran track, lifted weights,or did any type of sport in my WHOLE LIFE before joining track in 9th grade!!! i was never a sporty kid but i was really active though. i was also a chubby kid my whole life until i lost all the fat in 8th during my vacation in taiwan. i never thought about running track until one freak day during 8th grade i raced my friend who was on the track team and beat him 3 times. he couldn’t believe it since i was chubby and asian haha. the first time in track our team was required a two lap warm up around the soccer field (i was literally just jogging if not a bit quicker) and when i was done, i freakin cramped up in my butt. i couldn’t stand up for like 4 minutes!!! i started to get serious in the weights just this past year but i started to stop lifting when actual track meets were coming up. i also have never done any speed/special endurance during practice. i also have NEVER done a accel/speed day in my WHOLE TRACK CAREER!!! all we’ve really done was intensive tempos and no extensive tempos. i also started to take multi-vitamins a month ago. pretty sad huh??? i’ve also have a lot of fat for a sprinter so i recently started doing pretty intense ab workouts so now my abs are bigger so now i can see them when i flex them. i also have never done any oly lifts. i just want to win state this year because i really do feel i have the speed to do it. my acceleration is pretty bad but my top speed or maybe the fact that i decelerate less helps me run those times. i also get shin splints pretty easily if i run hills a lot but i do ice it to ease the pain. i just want to go out of high school with a BANG, you know what i mean??? i just need some help…b/c i already have vitamins, l-carnitine, cfts, ems, and this site haha.

what would you classify as general fitness???

would this gpp plan be ok until december or should there be more variety???
(sept. 1-dec 31)
mon: accel/med ball throws/weights
tues: ext. tempo/easy med-ball
wed: hills or bounding/plyos/weights
thurs: ext. tempo/easy med-ball
friday: speed endurance/weights
sat: off
sun: off

Well by reading your history I would definetly say you should use the extra time to lay down an extended GPP phase. It sounds like youd benefit a lot from this kind of training to round you into good physical condition for SPP.

so 4 months is ok??? or should it go into january? if it does go into january, i’ll have 2 months before my first comp., so that should leave 2 months for spp.
