Okay, the whole delay at worlds (about 40 mins) because of the false start got me thinking about this. Say you’re an athlete who is competing afterwards and you are in the middle of your warm up and you get word that there is a delay (which could happen for any number of reasons, ie. athlete is injured). Now what should the coach do to make sure that the athlete stays warm and is ready to compete, yet doesn’t do so much work that it drains some energy from the athlete.
I think a lot of very low-intensity stuff. Jumping jacks, situps, jogs, tempos with slightly longer breaks than in training.
