Great run by Mr. Gay.

What happen to Powell in the 100m?

Powell start was ok, nothing special, but top speed wasn’t there or didn’t respond. He gave up in the last meters.

Gay’s bend looks like the fastest ever to me.

I think Powell needs to learn to finish his races. “Shutting it down” when he wins, “giving up” when he loses. It’s 100m not 85m.

That shut down has turned into automatic mode since 2006.

finally a 19.5 lol its been all 19.6s except for two 19.3s

It was over at 20m…

It seems like most of the Jamaican men of both camps ran pretty poorly.

Powell 10.10
Frater 10.15
Carter 10.16
Blake 10.20

Interesting.

They need to start there fish oil cycles.

Look like he slowed down the last couple meters.

Tyson looks like he put some weight on his arms

His ears also look bigger.

PJ, one of my colleagues had Gay in 10.08. He said that was with a vector deviation of ~30 degrees.

Were you able to calculate anything from that race or others?

He did and this never ceases to amaze me as you would think that history has shown more than a convincing enough argument against easing off/celebrating, what have you, prior to the tape as the possibility for a record is always hanging in the balance, if you’re a top contender, when form is there (whether you think it is or not).

I still remember Carl Lewis’ 19.75 with his hand in the air meters before the finish. No question he would have taken Mennea’s 19.72 had he left out the pre-finish antics.

Same goes for Johnson’s pre-finish celebrating 9.79, Bolt’s pre 9.69 celebrating, and so on.

Multiple heats is one thing; however, what happened to finish through the line regardless where you are in the competition calendar.

I don’t recall many hamstring pulls at the finish line and any further CNS drain that may happen in the final 10meters or less is negligible.

You never know when your last race might be your last race.

If his post race interview is correct, regarding Gay feeling tight near the finish, might this have been simply an attempt to “soften” the effect he felt?

I recorded the meet and I don’t recall him saying that in his post-race interview. Maybe I’ll have to watch it again.

If that’s the case, however, than it certainly makes sense.

9.9 or less around the bend watching the video
high 9.8 around the bend.
is he in sub 9.8 100m form?

I should’ve said in print. He was perhaps too fatigued to elaborate in the NBC trackside interview.
This is what he stated after the race

Got it. Thanks
