Training to Enter the Next Level.

I’m going to attend a lot of mini-camps this summer with some of my teammates. My plan B(if I don’t get a scholarship) is to walk-on to a JC and then eventually transfer to a D-1. I prefer Texas A&M or Baylor(where both my parents went), or somewhere else if I draw any attention.
My trainer during the summer is one of Baylor’s recruiting coordinators and I have drawn some exposure while working out at their facilities last summer, but nowhere near enough for them to consider giving me a full-scholarship.

I haven’t taken the SAT/ACT. What is the point of doing it if I’m not even sure if I’ll go D-1 straight out of high school or not? You don’t have to have an SAT score to get into a JC.

Track season will only last for about 3 more weeks, after than I should have about 7 weeks to prepare for the them because the minicamps are during the summer.

Come to H-Town, ill get you right. I probably take .2 off that 40yd.

Keep in mind that I didn’t come to Baylor just for the football program. I didn’t come here because I thought it would be easier to start/play here. I came to Baylor because I liked the school and my girlfriend, or should I say now fiancee!, and my best friends were coming here. Now it didn’t hurt that Baylor was Big 12 and played against the best year in and year out but I wouldn’t have hesitated to go to UT, A&M, OU or any other school. I always thought that if I was going to get where I want to go (NFL) I had better be able to start anywhere I went.

Very good points, maybe not the gf comment.

Very good points Twhite. It’s just that experience at the slot wr position will take some time. I really need a productive year at that spot. However the coaches say that our offense will be 70% run and 30% pass out of the spread offense, but I should still get the ball on some runs.

No doubt in my mind that you could take that .2 off my 40 tamfb  . Training will be perfect once track season is over. I’ll be able to incorporate speed work+combine preparation on my own to go along with the school’s lifting and 7on7.

Track meet

4x100m- came in 3rd with 45.63, slow
100m- Came in either 3rd or 4th. Coach had me at 10.9! But it wasn’t official because the guy who placed first only had 11.1 and he beat me by maybe 5m.
4x200m- 1:35, not our best

I know I have gotten faster. Maybe that week off helped me after all. My quad was still bothering me a little bit. I used some bio-freeze and it helped.

10.9???

Ya, but I have to wait for the official handtimes to come out. Makes no sense. I talked to other people that raced me and they said that they’re coaches also had them faster as well.

you be at 10.6 in no time.

When are you gonna get a FAT time? I’ve found that most dual handtimes are really a guesswork to be honest…

But seems like you’re runnin well again. Let’s see what you can do fresh now.

I will probably never be running a FAT time. I don’t even think High school’s in Texas ever time in FAT. I won’t be running fresh until district  . We have one more track meet before district, and coaches will still make us squat heavy before that meet. The main reason why I have been so slow is because of that quad strain that I haven’t been able to heal properly. If we didn’t do so much during the week I probably wouldn’t be having any problems with it. My previous fastest handtime by my coach was only 11.36! But I do feel like I have gotten faster.

Are you sure about that comment?

If the guy in front of you was timed at 11.1 and in front of you by a lot, you can’t get excited about a 10.9 from someone who obviously can’t time for crap.

come on u gonna kill his confidence.

Ok guys I just found out that I was FAT Timed at that race, I had to ask the coach.

11.30 FAT

So I guess the 10.9ht makes sense now. The guy who won first in that heat ran 11.1 fat. I have been running fat times all along I guess. Coach said I started the year running 11.56 fat, so at least I know that I have gotten faster.

so stop crying about the workouts since they work.

During the period we ran routes/plays.

After that I went to the gym to workout the soreness
Warmup on the Elliptical

Bodyweight circuit
5x
20xbodyweight squats
15xpushups
20xcrunches on swissball

5x
10xLunges
15xPushups
25xBicycle crunches

5x
10xSquat Jumps
15xPushups
15xLeg raises

After that I did some low-intensity swimming and stayed in the hot tub and then took a cold shower. My quad is feeling sore right now, I sure hope I can run fresh with it before district.

I thought you said that because I was a young athlete, anything could get me faster? Do you think that if you trained me that I would have gotten better results?
