Shoulder Press:8x20
Hammer Curls:8x20
Dips:8x20
1:30 rest after all three.

Conditioning:
30x30sec strides at 10mph on Treadmill.

Weight:
165 Last night after weight gain shake.
161 this morning

Well, my weight is going up at least. He has me doing the high rep high sets because he says he wants to have more muscle mass on me. I started out at 157 last week, and I am already at 161 at the start of this week. I hope to be 165 in the morning by the end of this week.

Jesus 8 x 20 reps?? I know you need more muscle mass, but that seems a bit overkill to me… Good job on the weight gain, keep it up!

so the volume is there to increase weight gain but what about the core lifts, bp, sq, pc, dl etc.

I dunno what he has planned for me. I think he said that this was just high rep phase that will change later on. I dont know how soon but Ill have to ask him because I really am getting tired of doing these never ending sets. On the next phase I guess that is when he will have me do the core lifts and such. I should have asked him that today because last week he offered me a chance to max out with the baylor football players, but I told him that I wasn’t interested because we havent done any core lift sets.

i dont understand his training philosophy?

That weight probably isn’t solid. That shake probably gave you those couple of lbs. Having alot of liquid in your stomach can add a coupole lbs easy.

Well, the shake that I make is 32oz when I am done mixing it. And I drinkn a lot of water throughout the day also.

I dont know what happened yesterday I was consistently at 163? I guess it was from running on that treadmill for 30minutes straight, but I consumed a naked protein shake afterwards which has 500 calories and 40g of protein. I also consumed at least 4000 calories yesterday. I guess some of the food had poor absorbtion.

My shake that I take before I go to bed.
8oz whole milk
8oz Nonfat Dry milk
1 scoop 100% whey by ON
1/2 cup oats
1 banana
2tbsp PB
Has like 800 calories probably more. But Im pretty sure the absorbtion rate of this shake would be a lot better than other weight gainers that you buy. Any other suggestions to add to this shake?

You have to realize that you are doing a TON of conditioning work, coupled with the insane volume with the weights right now. You are burning a LOT of calories every day. Weight gain is not going to just happen over night, you have to keep the food intake up consistentley EVERY DAY. How often are you eating throughout the day? Should be 7-8 meals, every 2-3 hours.

It almost looks like you’re eating enough just to keep your weight stable. I’d make a food journal and post it here to really see how much you’re eating bud.

I’d also suggest you ask your trainer about the current set up with weights. Would like to see you doing more core lifts and less secondaries. You’re going to respond better from a heavy squat or dl, rather than a knee extension for example. Get what I’m sayin?

Water weight. Do you honestly think your muscle/fat composition of your body changes 4lbs per day?

Ya I get what you are saying but I dont think it will be much longer with all of these assistant excercises.

I also just now realized that only 1lb per week is most likely all I will gain. My waist size is still the exact same but I still weigh 5lbs more than in Jan/Feb, but I dont think waist size matters. I am eating 4-6 meals per day.

like i said earlier chill with all the weight gain and just become a better athlete, take one step at a time. you not gonna gain 2-3lbs overnite unless its water i take it back bc in college i took in twinlab 2500cal weight gainer shake with my 3-4 meals and i could put on 1-3lbs per nite.

Alright this will be the last high rep workout hopefully. He said it was just a 4 week phase of high reps, but there is no indicator as to where I am getting stronger or not with these workouts. We will be doing more work with the Core lifts and such now. Probably be doing like 12x5 with 65% of max as an example. This rain is very painful, Im getting sick of running on a stupid treadmill or stairmaster. I want to run “naturally” on a real surface at least.

I wish I didn’t woos out on the conditioning today, I felt this terrible sickness in my stomach(then I felt fine 2hr after the workout :mad: ). It may have been the heavier weights that killed me today and it was like I wasn’t adapted to it yet. I hope to have a better day tomorrow, and this workout is going to stick in my mind until I have a better one. My mind is weak and I need to match it with my physical ability.

Your team going to any big 7on7 tourney’s like A&M or Austin?

Highly doubt it. I actually haven’t been to any 7on7 games at all this summer because I have been so busy. But my trainer is holding a 7on7 tournament at his camp this summer so I will have to go to that but I will be randomly put on a team.

Today went a whole lot better than yesterday. It really must have been those heavier sets that killed me. Since I got a 2lb increase last week, hopefully I can get a 2lb increase this week on my weight. That would put me up to 165. And my waist size has stayed the same ever since I put on those 2lbs and my body still is lean and ripped but just a little bit more muscle on me.

Weight: 165 with Nike Free’s

I was dead tired after this workout. I have gained 8lbs since starting with my trainer and I have taken off .1 off my shuttle with the extra mass. I was consistently running in the 4.6’s at the combine and I ran consistently in the 4.5’s today but my pb is a 4.32. My main goal now is to get up to 170 minimum, and if I can acheive that goal pretty quick then I will shoot for 180 before the season. I think all of this weight is solid too because my body still has the same ripped physique but I look bigger with the ripped physique now.

I dont think it matters at all right now. He probably has me on a bodybuilding split right now but my main goal right now is to have bigger size and be very well conditioned and it seems to be working very well. Remember also that I am young and it doesn’t take great planning for me to get better. I probably could get better off of any philosophy or any workout. The key thing that I need is motivation and someone pushing me. You cant ask for a better trainer to push you and motivate you than odell. HE KNOWS what it is like to be at the top.
