i’m looking for a new pair of lightweight shoes for some shorter runs and a little bit of speed work and i’m thinking about the nike free. i did a search and was only able to find one person who used them and he liked them so i was wondering if anyone else had given them a try and would be willing to comment on them. i’m not dead set on these shoes so any other reccomendations you could offer would be great, thanks for your help.
i don’t know if it will make a difference in helping choose the shoes but i’m about 165 pounds and have pretty close to flat feet so for longer runs i use motion control/stability shoes. thanks again.
i would highly recommend any road racing shoe from either asics or mizuno.both are excellent for running and the road racing shoes are very lite with good cushioning/stability.you’ll be very suprised how lite they feel
Be careful doing speed work in Nike Free you may damage yourself. They are designed to strengthen your feet not for running long distances or at high intensity.
You can’t just jump into your normal routine wearing them, but yes you can do that kind of work in them.
Trust me you will notice a significant change, you will also occasionally get doms in the feet which feels a bit odd.
Begin doing warm-up activities in them, and gradually progress through your workout wearing them. Like I said in an earlier post, I wear them for everything. Most of my running is done on a TREADMILL (see Frappier Acceleration) but I would count that as speed work, high volume running.
I am not training to be a sprinter, just trying to maintain/improve life. So take my opinion as it is, just that.
what do you mean by doms in the feet? i plan on using these sparingly at first but working up to the clyde hart sample workouts given in the article about him as i’m trying to lower my time enough to run at college.
