Training for faster first step...

I ran the 40 yard dash today I got a time of 4.83 and 4.93 and the person timing me said i have a very slow first step. I was wondering what can I do to get a better first step from a 3 point track stance?

Typing this now I think I realize my problem it is that as soon as I start sprinting, I go up vertically instead of letting my body accelerate forward and gradually getting my upper erect. Would this create a problem? I am also going to video tape myself running the 40 yard dash and am going to upload it to a yahoo server for you guys to see what I am really talking about.

relative body strength, and acc. from diff positions should fix this problem, continue with strength training and do sprints with lying starts, starts from knees, starting on ur back, etc…
