What do you guys think about this product?

better than nothing but not by much

I really like it. I find it is a better product for pre-workout/during workout than a foam roller, which I think puts on way too much pressure for those time periods. It is also very portable (esp. if you get the traveling one), which is a plus.

I got it as a gift and think it was worthwhile.

which size stick you have, 17in?

Yeah, I believe that is the size. I’ve used the bigger ones and didn’t really see much difference.

Yeh i saw alot of the combine guys using them at the combine and my bro used one before his last meet and really like it, so i think its great for a pre workout/pre race. I just find it really diffcult to do alot of foam rolling.

Flash made a good post before differentiating myofascial release (foam roller) versus a flushing/light massage (the stick).

I did foam rolling before workouts for a while last year and I “felt” better, but I sucked up a number of the workouts when I did it as well and I think it was just too hard before a workout. The stick though really helps me just lightly loosen something without putting tons of pressure on the tissue.

Just to make my last comment clear when i said foam rolling is diffcult, im talking about rolling some of the key muscle groups like the hamstring is really tough for me. i cant get into the proper position to get enough work per muscle group.

I’ve used both extensively and would say the stick is good for hitting tighter, harder to reach spots (like the upper part of the hamstrings, near the insertion point). But in terms of being able to “work the kinks out”, the stick pales in comparison a foam roller.

i should have my stick by friday, i hate foam rolling it does jack for me.

I bring my stick to my meets and use it loosing up tight muscles…but I use a foam roller at home after workouts. Overall I really like the stick for traveling purposes when the roller is too big.

I must be doing something wrong bc i dont feel jack when foam rolling my hamstring and i cant work on that area for any extended time, other areas like lower back, quads, hip flexors etc are easier and it actually helps.

I can’t get the foam roller to do anything on my hamstrings either, but everywhere else it’s fine. I don’t consider the stick and the foam roller interchangeable; they’re different tools, the former being more of a light flush than anything else but it’s good to have, especially at a meet.

i may not be great but like someone said earlier its better then nothing.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great and I use it almost everyday. I just wouldn’t use it instead of the foam roller. Your mileage may vary though, do what works for you.

As always i do what works for myself regardless what others think. what do you mileage may vary?

I got my stick when i got home today and i can already tell the difference in both of my hammy i will use it during my warmup tomm.

Use PVC pipe instead of a foam roller. You’ll feel that on your hamstrings.

Or lacrosse ball/croquet ball while sitting on a chair.

I read a few of the posts above about how you didn’t feel the foam roller could work your hamstrings as well as you feel they should. That is a good thing, the means that your soft tissue is in a healthier state than most. I would recommend trying a softball now. This is a denser material with less surface area in which the pressure can be spread through. If it doesnt get you the feeling you are looking for try a baseball, if that doesnt work, try something smaller, if that doesnt work, you are good dont worry about it.
