does anyone have any ideas how to treat a supraspinatus inpingement. i am on vioxx. the injury get better when i m not using it but when i think its ok and i start to do any lifting or anything it starts all over again.
A couple of things to consider…
Have you had a referral to PT?
It’s difficult to be exact here without examination so keep in mind these are generalizations.
Increase the strength of your shoulder external rotators (teres minor, infraspinatus) and lower trapezius.
Oftentimes the subscapularis (not to mention the other internal rotators of the the shoulder - pec major, lats, teres major) tends to be the big culprit. Soft-tissue treatments such as active release techniques of do wonders. find a practitioner in your area at www.activereleasetechniques.com.
Dave Tate wrote a decent article about his recovery after shoulder surgery in which he constructed a nice little shoulder circuit of exercises emphasizing the cuff muscles and spino-scapular muscles. It’s at www.elitefts.com and on www.t-mag.com
Hope that helps
