I recently agitated my left knee doing something non related to sprinting. The left knee doesn’t hurt but feels loose. I’m confident it will fully recover soon. My question is how stressful is sprinting on the knees?
I don’t want to injure my knee but I still want to do speed work. Can I modify the type of speedwork I do so my knee is less likely to get injured. Is sprinting 10-20 meters less stressful on the knee then sprinting 60-100? Should I skeep speedwork and just do plyos? Are plyose less harsh on the knees then speedwork? Any way to modify my training? Will I have to stick with tempo running and upperbody exercises until my knee heals? Thanks
Also keep in mind that my training the last few days has been limited do to getting ready for school and visiting my grandparents, I haven’t done speedwork since monday which was the best speed session I had ever had acceleration wise.
Can you guess what I am going to say…that’s right HYDROTHERAPY HYDROTHERAPY HYDROTHERAPY!!
I did some flying sprints on the grass. My knee felt fine, it will heal completly soon.
I have had patella tendonitis several times in the past. Sprinting inc speed work hardly effected it. Plyos only effected it a little more. Squats effected it alot more. My Pb season I could not squat - all I could do was plyo and sprint. I also did not do any other weights even though I could have. BTW, I am not agianst weights, rather for them.
