If I may…I feel people shouldn’t get to got up in the distance travelled when doing Running A’s. If you really managed the speed at which the athletes travelling fwd you can get a whole lot out of 30m even 20m in some cases. With some of my athletes I’ve walked beside them at a pace so slow that they were cooked by b4 the 30m mark.
Around here some people are doing 60, 80 and 120m of running A’s more for the sake of saying that they done them at such a distance (pissing contest) then for the actually benefit. When this happens it often ends up looking more like bound/stride…sooo funny
we did these at a slow walking pace set by myself… i felt that inorder to get to the level of doing these over the 40 or 60m range we were better served breaking them down into stages…
through this learning curve the athletes were better prepared for when they took on those distances…
for my elite juniors (15-17) we are into the 60m range for the older more developed we head into the 100m range and in time will naturally take this out from there…
normally around the 3-4 reps.
to pin point or single out what it has done to performance on its own would be difficult as it fits in well with the rest of the program…
but have noticed tech holds form for much longer into the race in both the 100/200m
