Nice one Col.
If I get the time I’ll get the ratios proposed by Tellez et al. and we’ll see how they compare.

I have a thing for Asian looking girls, Col
Half Asian in this case
Her initials wouldn’t happen to be CM would they?
I hate to break up the avatar party, but I agree - the girl is cute.
I agree with David W re:squats, and with Charlie re: body proportions. My question has to do with testing. Should you test maxes with or without the SSC, if you test lifts? Charles Poliquin often uses the following tempo when testing, and believe me, it makes a difference in numbers. Obviously it doesn´t apply for clean or snatch variations.
All lifts are done on a 40X0 tempo (that’s four seconds to lower the bar, no rest, and an explosive concentric rep).
Thoughts?

No - who were you thinking of?
Carson - slow eccentric phase wastes energy. Also the stretch reflex is part and parcel of power and strength. Why would you want to remove it?
4 secs is a damn long time! I think it takes more strength to reverse a fast negative than a slow one.
“The faster the eccentric, the faster the concentric”
Louie Simmons.
Maybe not his exact words, but, you get the idea.
I’m a 20 year old girl (123lbs) and, from the table a few posts back have ratios of:
Power Clean:1.25
Back Squat: 2.1
Bench Press: 1.1
Dead Lift: 1.25
According to these ratios in the table a few quotes back I would be below average even though I have always considered myself strong and powerful and think this is the advantage I have over others so would like to improve my ratios if they should be better! Do these ratios differ for males & females?
Mine I guess would be average… I agree! I need to get alot stronger…
Bench=1.529
Back Squat=2.14
Hang Clean= 1.21
5’10", 170 lbs.
20 year old female athlete who power cleans. That’s excellent.
Using that tempo to test is only good if you’re going to use that tempo to lift.
How can your deadlift and clean be identical?
I don’t know, I’ve only been dead-lifting for about 6 months but powercleaning for about 3 years, maybe this is why? I should dead-lift more than my cleans then yeah?
Also, Speedkills: 07735…!
Front Squat maybe - less room for error/cheating?
Narked,
I think that your cleaning strength is quite impressive. Not sure of the typical comparisons against males. Might be .70-.80 as a rough measure (but I believe there might be differences between upper and lower body excercises -with women having the same or very close to the same lower body strength at the same fat free body mass (though this might only apply to the average population and not strength trained atheletes).
As a point of reference (high point): Kelli White (on a two year ban for taking a variety of performance enhancing drugs) at 145-155lbs was reported to clean 185lbs for 2 to 3 reps. This is obviously at a world class sprinting level.
What track event do you compete in? And what do your other female teamates clean (and at what weight)?
Keep lifting and getting stronger
Last message was directed towards “cazzierat”, my stupid mistake. Sorry.
I compete in the 100m. I have cleaned 165lbs, my team-mates have cleaned between 121-143 lbs. I think my dead-lifts should be higher but I’ve not been doing the lift for too long.
Thanks for the reply, thats cleared some things up for me!
So you power clean and are able to power clean heavy!! Exciting …
Thanks! Hopefully it’ll transfer onto my racing this year!
I’m 17 years, old 180Lbs, 5’11 and this year was my last year of high school football. I played fullback and Defensive tackle I started at both. Since the season is over I’m going to run track for the first time. Here’s my strength to weight ratios:
Squat: 2.5
Clean: 1.5
Bench: 1.75
do these numbers show a potential for me being fast or do they just show that I’m strong in those lifts.
