Flash posts previously: “Do not step over the knee during early acceleration! The leg movement during the first steps is more of a piston action. That’s what the A skip emphasizes. The only thing the athlete should think about (if he’s going to think at all) is his arms.”

While the swing foot doesn’t initially cross the support knee, note how Bens smooth cycling action is already starting to emerge. This is where I have a small problem…
My leg action is a little static - a natural cycle of the leg doesn’t come naturally and I have addressed this with “Flying 20” drills at submaximal speeds and emphasis on stepping over. However, this hasn’t transferred yet into my starts. When accelerating, my swing foot is ‘dragging’ straight through hardly raising above mid-shin causing a dramatic loss in stride length.
While I have some ideas on how this should be tackled I would really aprreciate forum members opinions on what drills, cues, advice can be best prescribed to tackle this problem?
