static contraction, good idea? xlr8,charlie,???

I was reading about lifting weights using the static contraction program
and I was wondering what do you guys think about that?

The meat of the program emphasizes holding heavier than normal loads of weight for periods of about 10-20 secs…

this is one of the links http://www.precisiontraining.com/ebook.cfm

in principle it sounds good, so would this benefit a sprinter?

Thanks as always

That program is geared more towards hypertrophy. Personally, i have found if you want to be fast and explosive, that is the way you should train.

Have you found that you can’t make progress (or have stopped making progress) by simply squatting and benching heavy? If so, are you properly cycling your training? Check the basics before you start looking into some “NEW AND IMPROVED” program.

Well, I wont say that for sure. But, the article seemed interesting
and if there is a better way to improve than I want to be apart of it.
However, I do respect what you are saying and I will probably stay true to my program atleast until summertime.

If you want more info on Iso’s CT posted an excerpt from his book here (or maybe at t-mag) do a search. Also check out ct’s superbeast article at t-mag.

Take the static contraction program with a grain of salt. it’s by the guys who brought you power factor training.

Personally I think Iso’s may be of value. But I’d save my money for CT’s new book. I’m sure it’ll be far more practical
