Squat Walkouts/Holds

In the past few months my squat poundages have risen steadily and Im beggining to move some fairly serious weight. Ive read that walkouts and holds in a power rack help you familiarize with heavy weight. Are there any benefits other then psychological to holding a ten count with Supermaximal weight in the squat??

Whats the benefits/significance of reseting the threshold??

It allows you to lift more, as its an inhibitory organism and resetting its threshhold of when it will not allow you to lift a weight, you can work with heavier weights.
