hey guys i have been working with a high school athlete going on for 10 weeks over this time period we have really focus on the clean, snatch, fs and bsq haven’t done much sprinting at all. today we did some multi jumps at the end of the training session and decided to measure them just for fun, this is what we got: his best slj was 9’3, best double slj 17’11 now this kid is very strong in the squats (485), cleans (310) and snatch(205) 5’8 195 but has never really been a great jumper - what would you guys recomm for the upcoming training months? we will be starting more sprinting, jumping, throws in the upcoming training. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
How hard was the preceeding session? I’ve found that SLJ can change by up to a foot depending if the SLJ is done as a “test day” rather than at the end of a hard training session.
i totally agree with you but like i said he has never been a great jumper. best vj 33-35in, best slj i think 9’8. im thinking he need more RFD and reactive work. the training session: i would say was med int. power snatch, snatch pulls, bsq, fsq, and hyper complex. before the lifting mach drills and runs out to 40yds for total 110yds.
Gee I wish my athletes with jumping problems ONLY had 33-35 inch vertical leaps!
In my opinion, for a high school athlete of only 5’8 - this kid is an unbelievable jumper.
Most of my college basketball players don’t have jumps like this!
his overall jumping ability is ok, i think they should be a lot more considering his strength and overall athletic ability.
anymore tipers.
