Hahahaha, that first one is hilarious. My paralell squat PB is 290 and I bet I could do that.
apparently i dont know if i do parallel or deep, but my max is 300lbs, it felt and looked like parallel, but ppl say it was deep squat…mayn never know this stuff heheheheh.
The first lifter should be ashamed to even contemplate that effort as a squat. The Coleman squat is shameful in that he has been training for so many years and still can’t squat with proper form. If this is what people are calling squatting then its clear that very very few people are actually squatting with proper poundages.
The dude in the clip is doing knee bends! That can never be called a squat!! I squat to below parallel on 95% of my lifts.
Mart, I really don’t think he’s caring about technique with that amount of poundage on his back! Some times you just gotta do it raw just to get it done! I know for a fact that had the poundage been lighter, you would have seen text book RC technique.
I can’t believe you guys. Obviously the first one was a waste of time. But come on if a guy came in to the gym a did what Ronnie did you’d be hater if you told him he didn’t go deep enough. Hes not competing in powerlifting, he’s infact a few weeks out from a bodybuilding show, working with little carbs. (remember Ben’s 600lbs wouldn’t have been legal lifts)
Finally lets make it a rule that you can’t come here and claim any squat poundage without the video tape to back it up.
I like it, someone should make a new official pr thread where only video documented pr’s can be posted.
ronnies lift was awesome, and the fact that he uses a bodybuilding squat makes it even more impressive. he was in the offseason actually during that film but who cares, the guy is amazingly strong, no way around it. if have that video and have watched it many times, he is a freak and could be a top notch powerlifting if he wanted to. for a relatively close stance and high bar squat, 800 for two is amazing.
Its not a question of hating bro. Its a question of doing things properly or close to it. Yes we all love RC for his longevity in his sport and yes iys impressive but the guy has about 20 years of training under his belt, but the first was not a squat in its purest form. Also there will not be the CNS adaptations and myofibriller development you want (WITH THE FIRST SQUAT). Plain and simple.
I can squat 200KG with proper form. Its different from partial squatting believe me. I will claim that I can… because I can; plain and simple, and no I won’t provide any videos…lets not make it personal. We are trying to help people maximise their training.
The guy who taught me couldn’t squat 80kg but he knows his stuff. Are you going to ask every coach to provide evidence of their sqautting ability before you take heed? Sorry to sound ascerbic but its like saying why should I listen to an athlete who has noticed something valuable about correcting your technique and saying well… you have not run 9.9 secs so its not valid.
We have power lifters in our gym squatting 285-310kg in competition, so I know about proper form. I am not talking about absolute strict form but please do yourselves justice…lower the weight and do them slightly better.
I cant believe you even made that comparison. I have seen ronnie squat ass to calf with no rack for reps with 700. What the fist dude did is move the weight 5 inches and you actually call it a squat?!? His predicted max is…not predictable from this retarted video. lol
christ is this thread for real. that first squat wasnt even a squat. ronnie did squat but even then come on mort i thought you knew better than that. i second thought… this is a joke thread right.
where do you get those ronnie coleman vids…
mesomorphosis.com has a list of most (all?) of his training DVDs. Alot of them have a video trailer available for viewing. My buddy (YEA BUDDY…light weight) has one of DVDs. I’m not a bodybuilding fan but the DVD was pretty cool.
There is a scene in the one vid where he front squats like 6 plates pretty deep.
his voice does not match his body lol
hahahaha nice
lol, didnt know what to expect there???
crazy stuff, where do you sign up for those meets?
looks like a sport where missing the lift could be a really really bad thing!
