Sprinting makes you stronger?!

What IS your point? I said elite powerlifters probably don’t squat a whole lot more than an elite sprinter. How many times do we need to repeat this?

Ben Johnson at what, 175± pounds, squatting 600 for reps. These guys in gear 165-182 pounds are squatting 637 to 652 pounds. Equipment easily adds 100 pounds to your squat. Linford Christie has done 300kg for reps, even tho they were quarter reps, impressive. I’m sure he was able to squat much deeper with even say 250kg no problem. Mo Greene has stated he does 435X2, that I would guess is completly raw, decent squat. I’m read before of a 500 pound squat from Mo, can’t find link. There was a video of Gatlin once doing around 400 pounds for 6 reps below parralel, thats strong for his build. There are some very strong sprinters out there.

I think you all need a pimp slap!

Those are some impressive numbers, esp by gatlin with his long legs.

Must not post! LOL

Check those bodyweights though…

Mo Greene 180+ HSI website
Linford C. 205pnds
Justin Gailtin 180 USATF website
Ben Johnson 170 (depending on by which book you are going by 1/2 or full squats!)

Sorry had too!

yeh im confused with the whole 1/2 squat thing also, all the books i have listed ben squats as 1/2 squats.

Good point, however, powerlifters of the equivelent height of Gatlin and Christie compete at what 220 242+. It’s all relative. Not many, if any sprinters fall into what they would compete at in a powerlifting conetest, which only makes there feats of strength that more impressive. Powerlifters are much heavier per inch of height. Take Wade Hooper for example, he has dominated the 165 class many times, he’s only 5’3"! That means, somebody like say Ben Johnson at a height of approx. 5’9" would most likely compete at 181 or even more likely 198.

How tall is Ron Palmer? Check this out. 12x bodyweight club! Along with 22 others! Might be more actually. Not sure.

Is this available anywhere? Or are you like me in that you have seen 1000 things but can’t remember where 1/2 of them are

I’ve just about had it with self indulgence also, I’m going to start closing accounts this weekend if things don’t take an about face. Take that to the bank!
