What sort of things do you work on and cues do you use in training? Things such as clearing your hand out of the blocks, cocking the foot, moving your arms quickly on flys, staying low… I’d be interested to know what others use.
I don’t really think of anything other then relaxation, head in line with my back at a low angle to the ground and moving the arms quickly - which comes from thinking about my first movement (driving on my front leg and clearing my opposite hand.
Does that help? lol
Addressing technical issues and the associated cues aside, I find the best runs involve focus on relaxation and smoothness. Standard relaxation cues (mostly from Bud Winter’s book relax and win) such as loose hands, loose jaw, rag doll hands, relaxed shoulders, floppy, arms and muscles loosely hanging. The more intense the focus on centering and relaxing the more I find the brain moves into a subconcious, hind brain execution. Hope this helps!
