sex/testosterone...

I have been thinking about this for a long time and I have heard many different things about it…

Sex before training/competitions is it bad or good ? And how should you time/plan it; so that the testosterone level always is as high as possible ?

alecos, check this out:

thanks

so having sex is good ? you get more testosterone  ?

hey tell your girlfriend that, it should work!

But seriously, the studies do show an increase in T-Levels, so you cant argue with science!

hmm, but if you have much sex… then you are loosing proteins… (well you can just eat more meat and take more protein-drinks etc…) but you are still giving away proteins, to her !!!

what a dilemma, proteins or higher testo-levels :frowning:

My friend doc who I always hype on here used to say it was of benefit. And told me some nasty stuff about the east germans. I might just be hype though.

haha you hardly lose any protein, look up the composition, it’s hardly anything, very effecient. AHHHH THE WONDER OF LIFE.

I kinda have a different theory. I know you all have heard of women complaining about how some guys just roll over and go to sleep after sex. Women on the other hand often want to snuggle and sometimes god forbid, DO IT AGAIN.:o But one study i’ve read, stated that sex for men causes slower muscle contractions. But in women it causes a rise in ? levels.(I forgot) So in a sense it’s normal for men to want to go to sleep afterwards. I know I always want to. So I would think that it’s a bad thing for men to have sex before certain training or before meets. While women would benefit greatly. So if any of you know some women that are getting ready for a big meet, make sure you get them as prepared as possible.

Treble: I will try to explain that theory to a girl in my athletics-club…

Charlie talked about this in one of his t-mag articles I think. Pretty crazy.

I don’t think it’s a good thing before meets. In Choke Rickson Gracie explains how before a fight in the Gracie family they go with out sex for 10 days. He explains how it wastes energy. If you do it exccesively you will feel more tired then usual,so you have to find the right balance.:oMan I can’t believe I’m posting about this. This is strange:help:

Ok… A friend told me that the perfect periodization is to have sex every second or third day, then you will always have the highest testo-level.

Sex periodization, this is awesome. I think sex might not be good during the hypertrophy phase because it could breakdown a lot of muscle fibre and then if your eating a lot you could build some muscle where you don’t need it. At least for sprinting.

If I go without sex for a week I become extremely aggressive and agitated

Might help with the meet mentally anyways

Chris

My understanding is that T levels rise during a heightened state of sexual arousal, and DROP immediately after intercouse

heres part of a reply that I believe Charlie francis posted in Tmagaziine…

Nookie Before Competition?

Q: Back in the day, people thought athletes shouldn’t have sex before competition. Now some studies have shown a slight Testosterone increase after sex. So what’s the deal? What do you recommend to your athletes? Any nookie before big events?

A: Well, I wouldn’t have to “recommend” it to any of my athletes!

Here’s a funny story. At a Grand Prix meet in Brussels, Ben Johnson was cornered and propositioned by the female manager of one of his top rivals. He didn’t get out of the sack until 15 minutes before the race. Ben barely made it in time, took a few stretches and blew everybody in the race away! Afterwards, the female manager told her athlete—the rival Ben had just beaten, “Well, I did my job, you didn’t do yours!” So in that case, pre-competition sex didn’t harm performance at all!

The only specific sport organization that ever had a specific policy on sex was the East Germans. The policy was very successful because they were highly in favor of sex before sports! They even literally “paired up” their teams to accomplish this objective, although I don’t know who they were finding for the big shot putters! I even joked with one of their male middle distance runners once about who got to team-up with their world record shot putter. He relied, “Me, if I lose!” In Rome in 1981 I even witnessed the East Germans pack up the bus with athletes to take them to the porno movies downtown in preparation for the World Cup!

But back to your question, I wouldn’t have any policy other than you don’t want to create any unusual circumstances. If it isn’t usual to have sex before competition, then don’t do it. If it isn’t usual to abstain, then don’t abstain. Do whatever you normally do.

When you have an important meet in your own country, you can explain to your potential partner the national interest and the role of a true patriot!
