Hey im doing a training camp in san diego from dec 27th to jan 6th and i was just wondering if anyone knows where i can get cheap plane tickets, so far the best i can do is 400$ canadian all taxes included.
Also we are still looking for a track to train on so if anyone knows a track open to the public near san diego state let me know! cheers
This probably should be in the off-topic section…
BTW, I think the UCSD track is open to the public.
3 Good tracks in SD.
Best location is Point Loma Nazerene.
The track surface is so-so, but one trip to the track and you’ll see what I mean.
Best facility is a toss-up
SDSU has the newest one. They tore up their track for parking…and put the new track in as a roof over the parking garage!
UCSD has a facility that has been in place for years. The owner of the SD Chargers (same guy that gave the money to upgrade UC Sac’s track for the 2000 and 2004 US Trials) built the facility in trade for the Chargers training there.
They dont any more, but you will likely see one of the college Holiday Bowl teams training there around that time so access might be limited.
UCSD’s surface was redone 2? years ago.
If you are a US athlete and ranked top30? in the world last year, you could contatct the OTC in Chula Vista and see about access there.
Its not a walk-on situation, you need prior approval.
yeah i was going to origionally post in the off-topic section but i couldnt find it. Yeah we are staying at a girls house who is on the track team there.
The last 2 years we trained at point loma but this year im looking for a track close to where we are staying because we wont be renting a car.
I think there are some HS tracks in the area but not sure
I don’t know too much about the HS tracks in that particular area, but most HS track are dirt near UCSD.
