Ross looks to bare bones

I don’t see how this could be reported as a bad post. My experience of Paul was that he reduced achilles problems down to Soleus trigger point release. That’s my personal experience & I should be able to express it without some anonymous clown reporting it as a bad post.

Nanny, what is the update on Josh Ross? Obviously he did not compete in the Sydney Track Classic. Was that just as a precaution or on medical advice?

[Personally, given that he was still receiving treatment from Conneelly on the ankle area, I think it was prudent not to test the problem area in such an extreme and public way just yet.]

Spoke to Ross at the meet. According to him he was cured after one treatment with Connelly. Looks like everything’s back on target.

I don’t know the doctors, physios, etc in Australia. Is this the same Connelly who has been criticized in earlier posts?

Yes, one and the same. Amusing if it wasn’t so irritating:rolleyes:

Yes, however Josh is rather impressionable so that instant cure may be more about transient immediate effects. Needles in trigger points do have analgesic effects.

Meanwhile in Nanny’s other life, the team for whom he looks after the strength & conditioning - Newcastle Jets knocked over the top team the Central Coast Mariners on the weekend in the Hyundai A League (Australia’s National Soccer League). This puts Newcastle in equal top place but more importantly, with one game remaining, secured a final four spot, snuffing out the chances of last year’s Grand Finalists - Melbourne & Adelaide.

Well done Nanny, all the best with Newcastle for the finals.

btw, Any news when Josh is going to have his next race start?

I thought he was S&C of central coast…

Come on Newcastle…

I saw a photo of Josh and Matt Shirvington training together. Don’t where it was or when it was either.

he only had his last treatment as a precaution the day of the meet and it was decided not to run in the meet despite being able to…

he is running a 60m race this Saturday at Mingara… as a lead up to the Canberra GP Meet.

GO THE JETS…

How did the 60m go ?

I couldn’t imagine conditions were good.

they werent indeed,

9.15 am in the morning, cold wet track aswell…

and i have learnt that JR is not a morning person AT ALL…

3 people inc myself had hand times of 6.49, 6.52, 6.54… for his first real run since WC.

15 mins later ran a 100m out to 60m and eased home, once again through in 6.5…

love to hear what CF thinks a warm fast track, early evening race, adrenalin, big race would be worth

Certainly a couple of tenths depending on how wet it is. If the stakes and excitement are very high, sometimes you can overcome the conditions, but not when it’s low key.
How did he look technically??

If everything was right for a 100m time what would the 6.5ish amount to for a 100m?

6.5 H is equiv to 6.7 e 60. Thats usually around 10.5 e.

are you serious? or u mean a womens race there

any “good” sprinter will run 3.5 for the last 40m… thats 10.20 et not the 10.5et you may want him to run

our aim is to be at less than 3.5 in august

6.5x rounded up to 6.6 and add .24(any race where the finish line is not the start line) to 6.84 is the proper conversion. then add 3.6(conservative) to 10.44 worst case doomsday scenario.

realisticly this 60 time really isn’t worth alot for extrapolating a 100 time, it just shows that josh ross is moving quick enough for this part of the year and looks to be moving fast without being on track to be an indoor/domestic hero and international dud.

6.7-8 is hardly ever a 10.5x. perhaps in someone who peaks out for indoor and has short legs and ties up at 45m, but everyone else will turn in a 10.3-10.4 assuming some level of baseline SE, and obviously can go faster. keep in mind that this obviously isn’t the fastest JR can go for a 60.

also, sharmer, how do you call me out for saying that steffo won’t medal and then bag your fellow aussie for turning in a decent 60 time for the conditions… at least he’s racing.

Cheers for that. I wasn’t going to extrapolate directly just wanted some idea of time.

You’re talking to 7.6 60m runner, or ex runner.

Look forward to seeing Ross hit his straps and show people he is an international athlete.

3.5 for the last 40m ???

That’s equal to 0.87 for each 10m split even when Joss ran 10.08 his best 10m split was 0.86. You really think he is going to hold 0.87s for each 10m split over the last 40m, with a top split of 0.86?

Considering he ran 10.5 H for the 100m, I thought I was being more than generous. Running 10.5 e is not a bad run on that track on a wet cold morning.

I am not bagging him but I have run on that track before. It can be very slow because of the cold and winds - 10.5 e is not a bad run.

I have watched Ross for years, even in his last gift run over 120m in late December. Based on the times on that day and my judgment on his form, I think he would have ran 10.5e in those poor conditions. In better conditions & competitions I think he could post 10.30-10.44 zone. Running 10.30 is only 0.22 outside his best form. Not that bad. Opening up in 10.20 rarely happens in this country, unless its Patrick who has the tendency for great early-season form then drop off in performances later.

The only reason Steffo is in medal contention is because he based himself in LA under the best tutelage. He trains like an American not an Aussie. I’ll give credit where it’s due.

well you must know that his last 40m was 3.51sec…in that 10.08 race

his 10.22 from last year 60m 6.71, last 40m 3.51

so when all is in place a sub 3.5 is not unrealistic off a 6.5? something 60m

the 10.5ht 100m time on the weekend is irrelvant as he did not run through much the same as he wont in canberra this weekend.
