At my gym the reverse leg press only goes to like 190. That is much to light. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can increase the weight, and what other exercises i can do to compliment this one. thx
To increase the weight you can put heavy dumbells on the weight stack.
I had thought of that but the machine has a cover over the weight stachk preventing that.
Chris,
Depending on the structure of the apparatus (mainly how old it is), especially the older equipments, you can have someone stand on the stability (support) bar, that is b/w the foot pedals where you press down, this will add his/her body weight.
Of course, I can tell that you see the many disadvantges to this, with having a partner and whether they are light or too heavy, etc…but other than that I don’t know what else to do…good luck
If there’s no convenient way to increase the load on the machine, consider just dropping the exercise and doing something else. It’s a good exercise, but don’t feel wed to any particular movement. In the end, it’s all general to sprinting anyway. There are many good hamstring exercises to choose from.
thx guys. the machine is new i see no way to add weight. I read in ctfs that it is important. that is why i wanted to do it.
What about hanging a 25 lb. plate on the pin?
I was also going to say hang a weight on the pin, and if the cover obstructs the pin because it is too short, take a long pin into the gym with you.
When we say reverse leg press’, what apparatus are we speaking of? Is this this leg press, facing backwards or the glute/ham machine? like the one Hammer Strength makes?
Glute Ham from hammer
yes muscleman exactly but not the inclined leg press if thats what yer thinking of. Its the older Universal machines, where you find shoulder press, lat pull downs, etc
