reverse hypers and walking lunges

Had a conversation with a very successful High School Track coach the other day.He outlined his strength program for his sprinters and jumpers. He is a big advocate of high rep hypers and weighted walking lunges. He treats them like a traditional core lift. His athletes do them twice a week.Squats and typical olympic movements are reserved for the select few while rest hammer away on the leg press.Any thoughts?Seems strange to me but can’t argue with his product. His teams get it done.

Sorry, this post should be classified under strength training. My mistake.
