Rep pyramids for strength exercises Vs power OLS

In January health and personal problems meant I lost 10 - 15% off the lifts and 5kg BW. Last month i decided to change things around to try and reignite my appetite for training. I decided to work the power variations since they are less stressful and my squat has gone to shit.

After speaking to a collegue I decided to use sets of 3r - practically a marathon for me. The results were outstanding. Within a fortnight I equalled my pb power clean and last week I almost caught a 120k.

The improvement is probabably a result of the large change in stimulus (volume) but I was surprised how much shallower the rep pyramid is with power OLs compared to a pure strength exercise like squats. I wondered if other athletes had noticed the same? If yes I may need to reassess my rep schemes for athletes using these lifts (previously I had worked predominantly with 2s)

All top sprinters will find that their strength pyramid is shallow because of the qualities of strength endurance that must be present for success at the highest level. That said, your experience is prob very common for sprinters.
