Basically I need help with a problem that is going on at my new school. Alright, basically I’m going to a new High School this year (sophmore/16), and the track coach isn’t exactly the best. I have many questions about how I can get around not that great coaching. First off, it isn’t a real big deal, but the coach only holds stretches for 10 seconds. He uses the right stretches, and we do 1 warmup lap before practice, but basically Im used to people holding stretches for 30 seconds. We have 30 minutes before practice, so my solution to that problem is to do the warmup lap and do my own stretching before practice starts. Then when we do the warmup and stretching, I will just do another warmup lap and act like Im stretching. Funny, but I think the solution would work.
Also the coach only has a sprint group and distance group. When I say sprint, I’m saying 100m and 200m. I run the 400m and either the 800m or 200m, so I would really would like a group that focused on mid-distants. I will probably ask the coach if we could just start our own group, but what should I do if he denies that? We get Fri. off, so could I do any good training for the mid-distance, mostly for the 400m, on Friday? Or any training after my sprint workout? And I understand, 400m is a sprint event, not a mid-distance event, but how this coach is got it going, it seems he only focuses on the 100m and 200m for sprint. *sigh Any advice would be great. Thanks for any responses.
