Presidential poll

The Patriot Act also allows the U.S. Gov’t to use U.S. health companies based in Canada to read any private medical documents about those Canadians b/c the companies are American.

Considering the fact that the Washington Redskins lost this would mean that John Kerry will win the election. 16 out of the last 16 election years parralleled who won the Washington Redskin game in those election years and each time the outcome the game decided who was going to win. I just report the facts, check out espn.com for further info.

it’s not over, but it looks like a sad, sad day for america :frowning: i am in tears already… don’t have a lot of faith in the last 12% of ohio.

Start polishing those jack boots girl …

Charlie,

Certain books are flagged for their predicitive dangers here…my best friend took out four books and was met by a few detectives a few days later.

I still can’t believe it. After the huge financial deficit Bush has created over his previous 4 years, americans turn out in record numbers to vote him back in. All the votes aren’t in yet, but its looking bad at the moment.

You know… deep down inside… I want to see Bush clean up his own mess in Iraq… If he can…

51% of the population decided that they want more of Bush. So, let them get what they deserve…

first- i am ashamed of what the rest of the country must think of us… bush screwed up really badly but at least we could have retained some dignity if we had voted him out of office. obviously not the case.

second- i don’t understand how the very people that bush tramples on are the ones turning out in droves to vote him back into office. namely people in the south and midwest who were hit hard by bush’s awesome economic plan which seems to benefit only the richest of us… are people stupid or just blinded by good old “american values” which he doesn’t represent anyway?!

it won’t even be about getting out of iraq! It will be iran or north korea next, so we will all die, i will get drafted, and lose my right to have an abortion even it means I will die… in that order of priority.

 :frowning:

I’ve lived in the South for many years and can tell you they are concern with social and cultural values much more than economic issues. Granted the South is the poorest states in the union. However, when people are used to being poor, it’s really not that big of a deal.

Furthermore, the South is also considered the Bible belt, where religious values trump any other issue. Evangelicals, like the Southern Baptist, are hard-liners that are focused on enforcing biblical doctrine. For them, the “mission” is more important than anything on earth is.

As for North Korea, and Iran. They will, especially North Korea, develop nuclear weapons and become a nuclear country just as Pakistan and other countries are… What that will do is give them more power and guarantee caution before a country like the US attempts to attack. Some said that if Saddam developed a nuclear program before attacking Kuwait, the US would’ve been a little more cautious about attacking a nuclear power. As they are with North Korea, which I believe has the 2nd largest army in the world -next to China.

So the biggest job on the table is stabilizing Iraq, without being marred in a Vietnam like quagmire. The only good news is that unlike Vietnam, the insurgents don’t have a superpower like the Soviet Union providing support. Stay tuned…

A far as dying… Humans have proven to be a resilient creature… We will survive…

Good news is that after 4 years more of G Dubya; he can’t run again. Thank our forefathers for that…

Unfortunately, in four years time some other corrupt shit-for-brains will have been groomed for office. The hallelujah vote has a lot to answer for.

No doubt Phony Blair will be pleased. Had Bush not been re-elected, he may have found himself in a very isolated position indeed. As it is, the overwhelming majority of his party are disgusted with the outcome.

It is also unfortunate American policy has such an influence on global issues. This outcome will have serious implications world wide.

You know, I’d wondered what was going on with all this crap about banning Gay marriage. Why worth discussing and why now, with so much else going on in the world. Now, it appears, this was Rove’s strategy to rouse the fundamentalists in key states where they got this on the ballot. Once the enraged fundamentallist was in the booth to cast fire and brimstone onto Sodom and Gomorrah, he’d be sure to cast his vote for Bush while he was in there. From the people who brought you the Scopes Monkey Trial!

India has the second largest army and pretty soon it will be number one the way the keep booming out babies.

On a different note, yeah Bush got re-elected again. The only good thing about this is that the CDN Dollar will continue to sore as it did this morning to almost 83 cents luckily that’s when my order from elitefts.com went through I believe. Now that Bush is in again I should have waited another couple of months to a year, b/c the way he screws up the economy the CDN dollar will rise and be at par with the U.S. dollar.

Ok… North Korea now has the fourth-largest army in the world…But I think you get the point…

The tried and tested political tactic of playing on peoples hopes and fears! It works…

“Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to
trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule–and both
commonly succeed, and are right… The United States has never
developed an aristocracy really disinterested or an intelligentsia
really intelligent. Its history is simply a record of vacillations
between two gangs of frauds.” - H.L. Mencken

“The kind of man who wants the government to adopt and enforce
his ideas is always the kind of man whose ideas are idiotic.” - H.L. Mencken

“No one ever heard of the truth being enforced by law. Whenever
the secular arm is called in to sustain an idea, whether new or old, it
is always a bad idea, and not infrequently it is downright idiotic.” - H.L. Mencken

“History has tried to teach us that we can’t have good government under politicians. Now, to go and stick one at the very head of government couldn’t be wise.” - Mark Twain

“Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.” - Mark Twain

“All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.” - Mark Twain

Mark Twain is my Hero…

But his brother can - two times, and then 12 lears later probably one of his daughters…

Funny…But rarely in the history of the U.S. has a party dominated for more than 3 consecutive terms, much less past 4 terms.

I know many people are cynical about the elections, but every war time president has been re-elected… We survived a Revoltuionary War, a Civil War, Vietnam, and the Cold War. Things aren’t as hopeless as it seems. Relax…
