Preparation for 2005 Indoor Season and beyond

Hey guys, I just decided I’m going to try out for the track team at my university this fall. I tried out last season, but injured my hamstring and gave it up for that season. I’ve completely rehabbed the hamstring to the best it’s ever been. What should I do for training between now and then? I was thinking I would treat the next 6 months or so until tryouts begin as a huge GPP phase with weights centered around posterior chain development and max/explosive strength as well as core development. Non weight days would be occupied with more general strength movements to increase work capacity and facilitate recovery such as push-ups, body weight squats and lunges, etc. If you were in the same situation, would you structure the training in a similar way or am I missing something? I’m a sprinter (55/100/200) with a BW~175 SQ-450 DL-510 B-255 PC-275.

Thanks!

If you have six months to work with you can do a mini peak. I can’t see how six months of just ggp is going to help alot. Why not work up to some fun meets or something. Train for speed running fast, not just getting into shape.

Just out of curiosity, what are your PBs?

PBs are 55m-6.76 and for the 100 11.5 200 23.8 (both 100 and 200 times are from junior year in high school…i had no times my senior year because of injuries and I was lucky enough to be able to recuperate enough to run relays at the state meet). I don’t know where my 100/200 times would be at now because I haven’t had one of those timed in 2+ years.
