What is everyones opinion on doing plyometrics ( box jumps) on off days?
I was under the impression that an off day should be recovery and in my opinion plyo’s is strenth and CNS work?

Keep plyos on speed days.
The reason I asked was over March Break on our training camp I visualized a coach doing a lot of plyo’s on off day’s and I was wondering how and why would he be doing this. I have come to realize that just becasue you are a registered coach, does not mean you know what the hell you are doing.
I also had a conversation with a coach that in the past has been a coach on national teams; and he did not know about in’s and outs, race model etc.
These are the people that our athletes think are the best.
What a freaking joke.
Very disturbed in the great white north
Not just up there.
I witness almost every week, coaches giving there athletes speed based workouts on Thursday before comp, and critcising other coaches who give less demanding CNS workouts then and the harder CNS earlier in the week.
Has it got anything to do with how the coaches are taught in the first place.
As Charlie said plyos same day as speed session
Not sure if this has been discussed before, but what plyometric drills do you or your athletes do?(addressed to anyone)
on speed days our exercises include:
single leg jumps
double leg jumps
bounding
box jumps
hurdle hops
not in one day and about 40 -60 contacts
I like depth jumps. They are vertical in nature (which helps max speed sprinting), and they are easy to control because you can adjust the height of the box to keep the ground contact times short.
