plyo day's which

what days should i do plyo. speed. or tempo.

ALWAYS speed. Never do plyos on CNS days because they are way too stressful on the body and tempo days are active recoveries to keep you fresh for the CNS days.

I’m not sure I would intentionally avoid performing all plyo’s on days which are heavy on the CNS.

Plyometrics can perform a potentiation role before speed, exciting and stimulating the nervous system beyond what you may normally be able to achieve with sprinting alone. They do however need to be approached with caution and an understanding as to how a particular action will cause the body to respond - and this will vary greatly between athletes.

I think the definition of plyometrics is too broad to say simply say that you should or should not do them on certain days. Donovan Baily was performing “tempo hops” before he was performing tempo running post op. These are small hops moving forward, not going for distance or height - just lightly bouncing along. If the athlete has a specific problem that such an exercise could help correct, I wouldn’t see any problems with performing them on a tempo day. On the other hand something like 30" depth jumps however would be totally inappropriate for a tempo work out and would, as suggested by 400stud interfere with recovery.

thx guys
