when achieving personal bests in weight lifting (squats, deadlifts, bench, etc)ā¦ should you then cease that lift or simply decrease the weight and increase the reps?
for example: my rm on my bench is 205ā¦ weak i know, shut the hell up
so if i hit 210 on a bench session i should stop and go to say 5 rep sets at 185? any help is appreciated.

At your level Iād say no. If you were at a much higher level I would say yes. Same goes for sprint times in special end runs. I wouldnt cease the session but I may however decrease the volume.
Reason being, with your training age you have not developed the inter and intra muscular coordination of a higher level athlete which means you do not yet have the motor control to tax your nervous system to the same extent.
Just my opinion. Others may not agree.
