I guess it all boils down to my favourite quote, “it’s down to personal preference.”
im thinking about them for the 100
anyones thoughts?
do they run big or small?
thanks
what are spike crowns?
I think I’m going to order spikes today so I looked up this old thread. People were pretty convincing about the Mizuno Chrono Dash so I’m thinking I’ll get those. Has anything else comes out that blows away the competition?
Speaking of flexible spike plates… Has anyone tried these? they look pretty flexible but it looks like the heel would move on a 200m. The Mizuno are probably the better of the 2 but the fixed spikes is making me hesitate to order them. I would like the option to change the spikes…
I’m getting the new Celars. The best new sprint spike out this year, I can almost gurantee it.
What about the new Superfly G5’s? Those are pretty flashy looking and the Superfly’s are my favorite spike.
Those are an updated version of the Zoom Jsc’s - the Michael Johnson copies.
The plate are very flexible but I don’t think it will move in a 200m. (I have only ever run half a turn in mine.)
The shoes are rather narrow though. Some people have complained about pain around the little-toe area, but that is supposed to have been fixed now. I have worn them (the old gold version) for an hour no problem myself.
Thanks for showing my shoes to everyone Wayne
The JSC’s suck for turns because they give too much and it’s very uncomfortable. I want a spike plate, not a sock. They were comfortable, just not made for anything shorter than 400m (and in the 400m I didn’t like them b/c they “allowed” me to run flat-footed at the end).
Yeah I had rap tape on plate. I hateed them. I just back ordered the celars from eastbay.
I’ll be getting mine soon. Did you get blue or red? I’m getting blue.
i got the blue since our uniforms are blue and my sister got the red.
P.I.M.P. is all I’ma say
TJ2k,
I use those spikes in every thing from 100m to 400m, they are unreal. Very stable, secure and and have a great plate.
nycjay01 and pete,
Mizuno make a fantastic spike. Not alot of need to worry about the non-removable spikes as they are made from tungsten and generally outlast the shoe itself, it helps to keep off the concrete though.
Nike and Adidas are the only spikes I’ve used which tend to wear down fast as they are made from a light ceramic and cant compare to the tungsten and steel spikes in the Japanese brands.
Ok Im leaning towards the mizunos.
I have to agree with Dazed too, I own the 2002 Tokyo, and I have to say it’s possibly the best spike i’ve run in to date!
I’m thinking whether or not to go for a pair of geo sparks as they have a similar spike plate as the 2002 tokyos, but I’m a little unsure as I’ve not heard any feedback on them whatsoever. Are there any forum members who have run in them or own a pair, if there are could they let me know how they handle???
Cheers
Terence Trammell wore a bright red and blue pair of Geo Sparks at this years World Athletics champs in the 110mH…he placed alright hhehe, so i guess they cant be too bad
Does anybody know of a good place to buy spikes in Toronto? I ordered a pair of Cyberflash from Eastbay but they randomly cancelled the order and won’t respond to emails asking why. Eastbay is going to ruin my indoor season! It’s become a bit of a crunch as the season starts in a month and I still have my Adidas Powersprint that I have had since 2001 (ouch!) so I really need new spikes.
So any nice locations would be appreciated. Plus I would have liked the Asics or a Mizuno but at this point I will go for a Nike or even Adidas Lightsprints.
Thanks guys,
Juggies
I need to get spikes as well. I guess with my weight (200 pounds) I would need a stiff plate spike. Looking at running 50 meter and 200 indoors. (Masters)
Those Asics look nice, especially if they handle everything from 100-400meter.
