Just got back from the meet and I thought it went pretty well.
Ran the 50 meter and did it in 6.60 FAT. (they announced the time over the PA I didn’t stick around to see the results sheet)
My reaction time, start and acceleration was pretty good but I was tight getting up to top speed. I believe I finished 6th overall. (There were 6 sections)
I was pretty happy considering I haven’t set foot on the track since before Christmas (December 13th I think?) and I am up to 203 pounds.
The illness I had for the last 4 weeks really knocked the crap out of me but I am pretty happy overall with todays race.
I think I can get down to the 6.40 FAT range for 50m for the Masters Championships in March if I get my weight back down to around 195 and a bit more track work in.
Good job! Sounds like you’re around where you were aiming. In particular if you were tight 1) with more races and some training you’ll get more relaxed and 2) you’ll get faster in a month of racing and training, so I think no doubt you’ll reduce that 6.60 by at least two tenths (that looks like a conservative estimate).
I’m getting excited seeing all these race results from indoors and hearing from you guys running your first races of the season. The calendar for here isn’t set yet (heck, the federation is on vacations), but my first race will probably be in 2 to 4 weeks time (first meet of the year in 2002 was 14 Feb, first meet in 2003 was on the 28th Feb). I can’t wait.
