should explosive med ball drills such as the snatch throws etc. be included as part of the sprint/plyo workout or can they be used as a temp work on off days? I know they are CNS intensive but wouldnt they lack the weight/speed to tax the CNS when performed at low volumes?
They wouldn’t be considered tempo. If you do them properly and can really chuck them, then they tax there CNS enough so that you wouldn’t want to do them the day before a high intensity sprint workout.
What about a day before SE runs? Provided that the volume is low.
before Speed Endurance days they should be ok.
To the original post, perhaps you could use them on tempo days early on in the season; as the season progresses though, all intensive work should be incorporated in the same workout.
