Maxing out during gpp on the track

At the school I coach at one of our other coaches who writes the strength program is having them max after 10 weeks of lifting on her program and 4 weeks of training on the track. I don’t think it’s a good idea because they already maxed in September before they started the strength program. Also I think it will interfere with their workouts on the track. Can someone tell me what they think of that? Is it really necessary to max out again after 10 weeks? Does it really prove anything that’s relevant to their training at this point in the year?

So long as you are weak and you won’t hurt yourself it is probably fine. The stronger you are and the faster you can run the more of an issue it really is.

thats what i was thinking also with lower level girls u can damn near do anything with them.

the massive problem with that though, is once they turn 17, they need to be following a proper program. ANd if they have been doing whatever for the last say 5yrs, and been improving off it, they will struggle to change. They will continue to run the same times they did when they were 16 when they turn 22.

I have seen it all too often.
You can break it, but you goto be keen, as do they. Chicks can be stubbon

As said before, depending on her level and the track training around that strength plan, it shouldn’t prove a negative thing -especially for a female. A bit more information on her though would help…

dude chill i was just making a point Similar to want cf says bout lower level athletes (everything being hard, cant tax cns as much etc etc). i have female clients so i have some idea how to work with them.

Have you noticed more or less fluctuation in their strength vs. males? Thanks!

I have to agree.

oh boy more fluctuation, thats one of the things i hate - too much up and down.
